The first half chance of the game came on two minutes when Tom Lees spread a superb ball forward, his diagonal effort into the feet of David Worrall caught the shots defence flat footed, but a greasy surface saw the ball go out for a goal kick.From keeper Jamie Young's clearance, the ball fell to Luke Gutteridge on the edge of the Bury area, his quick shot on goal brought a hefty deflection of Sodje and away for a home corner that the Bury defence easily dealt with

A Bury free kick on 9 minutes, following Darren Jones' foul on Nicky Ajose brought a goal for the home side.Worrell's delivery was quickly caught by keeper Young and his very long clearance up the field found the sprightly Jermaine McGlashan, he skipped past Mike Jones before spraying the ball into the box.

Keeper Fon Williams making his debut for Bury got a hand to the ball but was unable to stop the shot from Glen Little to open the scoring for the afternoon.

From the restart, Bury got the ball forward quickly to Nicky Ajose, a challenge from the Jamie Vincent though had the ball out of play for a Bury corner.Mike Jones delivery found the head of Efe Sodje, who then watched as his powerfully struck header crashed off the crossbar.

A harsh yellow card was given to Joe Skarz on 14 minutes for a foul on McGlashan.From the resulting free kick, the entire Bury team sprinted out of the box (the old schoolboy offside trap), and after making a complete mess of his first touch, Glenn Little left the ball for Morgan who was then obviously flagged offside.

Aldershot put Bury under the cosh on 19 minutes with some stern pressure; McGlashan in particular was causing all sorts of problems.He finally played the ball to Herd, via Morgan, whose delivery brought a corner after a sliced clearance from Sodje.When the corner was taken, David Worrall was on hand to drive the ball up the field to safety.

Within a minute, it was the Shakers applying the pressure.Worrall and Picken both combined well to get the ball into the box.Worrall's delivery flew across the goal mouth and all the way back to Ajose, his ball into the box found Ryan Lowe, but Aldershot's Darren Jones felled the Shakers striker.The referee had no other option but to send Jones off and award Bury a penalty.

Ryan Lowe stepped upto take the penalty, he hit the ball hard into the top right hand corner.Jamie Young though got a hand to the ball and saved the second Ryan Lowe penalty in as many games.The resulting corner brought another excellent header from Sodje, though this time is was Ben Herd who cleared the effort of the liner, keeping Aldershot in the lead.

Aldershot made a swift substitution moments later with Glenn Little coming off to be replaced by Morris.

Bury's search for the equaliser continued on 28 minutes with Picken firing a long cross field to David Worrall, he took the ball across the face of the area before laying it off to Mozika.The French midfielder fired a venomous shot from distance that brought a good save from Young, though he was unable to prevent the corner.Mike Jones this time though delivered the ball too close to the home keeper and he claimed the ball as it dropped into the box

An Aldershot corner on 32 minutes brought a bullet header from John Halls that had goal written all over it, however Ryan Lowe stood on the line took the ball on the chest and fired clear.Seconds later, Aldershot had the ball in the back of the net, but a foul on Fon Williams saw Mr. Whitestone rule the effort out.

An Aldershot free kick on 40 minutes, following a foul by Joe Skarz saw Luke Gutteridge play a training ground ball into his own corner, Ben Herd floated a high ball into the box and Fon Williams, under pressure from Morgan, was forced to concede the corner, though again, the Shakers defence dealt with the delivery with aplomb.

Bury got back into the game just before half time, a Mike Jones deep cross into the box deceived everyone, including keeper Jamie Young, to drop into the far corner of his net to make it all square.

A 47th minute cross from Phil Picken brought a sliced clearance from Morris, the ball spinning just over his own cross bar.Mike Jones' delivery from the corner again found the head of Efe Sodje but this time the referee saw an infringement and he awarded a free kick to Aldershot

Jermaine McGlashan again was the danger man for the home side with some good play on 50 minutes earned his side a corner, though this time the delivery from Gutteridge was well dealt with by Tom Lees with a firm header clear.

Bury's best chance to take the lead came on 56 minutes, a deep cross from Joe Skarz that flew deep across the Shots area found Mike Jones, his quick ball back across the six yard box found Ryan Lowe, but all he could do was blaze the ball over the crossbar.

Moments later and another chance came Bury's way, this time crafted by Nicky Ajose.Some good skill and footwork saw him take the ball past Anthony Charles and deep to the touchline, his cross into the six yard box just needed a touch from Ryan Lowe, but a diving header from Gutteridge saw the ball knocked away form the Bury striker.

Bury won a corner on 61 minutes with David Worrall causing problems, his cross a defensive clearance from Anthony Straker for a Bury corner.Jones' delivery brought a good header from Tom Lees, but his effort flew straight at Jamie Young.

The pressure eventually told on 65 minutes when Haworth slipped the ball to Ryan Lowe.Lowe touched the ball into the path of Mike Jones just outside the box and Jones absolutely lashed the ball into the back of the Aldershot goal to put the Shakers in front.

Within minutes of the restart, a horrendous challenge by Marvin Morgan on Damien Mozika brought another straight red card from Mr Whitestone.With Mozika writhing in agony on the floor and some serious concern from the Bury players.

The home suppoirters called for a red card on 73 minutes following a foul by Damien Mozika on Luke Gutteridge. Mozika recieved a yellow card to the amazement of the home crowd. Whilst all this was going on, Kevin Dillon, the Aldershot manager, was also sent from the dugout by the referee. Two players and the manager both now had no involvement in the game.

Bury made it 3-1 on 76 minutes with a classic counter attack. Andy Haworth streaked forward with the ball, played a simple one-two with Ryan Lowe, and then dropped it at the feet of Nicky Ajose who simply looped it over Jamie Young to make it three.

Mike Jones went for the hat-trick on 82 minutes when he picked the ball up on the egde of the box and fired at goal, unfortunately his effort flew high and wide of the target. Anthony Straker attempted to get his own side back into the game a minute later with a long range looping effort, that again flew high over the Bury cross bar.

Witht hree minutes of the game left, Mike Jones again attempted to seal the hat-trick, this time receiving the ball from Picken before goin on a merry dance through the Shots defence, though his final touch let him down allowing Charles to clear.

A Bury free kick in injury time saw Mike Jones grasp the ball. The free kick from just outside the area saw Jones fire the ball at goal, but again, keeper Jamie Young caught the effort denying Jones the hat trick. Moments later a good ball into the box from Ajose saw Lenell John-Lewis leap to head the ball, but he also caught the keeper with his challenge giving the home side a free kick.
