Bury vs Stockport County
by Hannah Ingram at Gigg Lane
This match was a case of top versus bottom as 22nd place Stockport County travelled the short distance on the M60 to face 3rd place Bury.
Bury had crashed out of the JPT cup in midweek after a 1-0 loss to Tranmere, and this game capped a run of four consecutive matches at Gigg Lane.
Alan Knill's men were back to focusing on the league until their FA Cup second round tie in a few weeks, which could be a repeat of today's match if Stockport can beat Peterborough in their first round proper replay.
The game was halted after five minutes after Jordan Rose seemed to clash heads with Ryan Lowe; he stayed on the ground for some time before being checked over by the club doctor and returning to the field.
Adam Griffin tried his luck from distance on 11 minutes but saw his effort fly over the bar.
GOAL! Stockport took the lead on 14 minutes after Wes Fletcher kept hold of the ball in the box despite pressure from Tom Lees; he then placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

Ryan Lowe cried out for the ball from Nicky Ajose on the left wing on 19 minutes; taking the ball away from the Stockport defenders in the box, he failed to get power behind his shot and saw it gathered by Matt Glennon.
Ajose was feeling lucky on 32 minutes, flinging a long ball from well outside the area on the left wing which went wide.
Damien Mozika tried a shot along the ground on 34 minutes, which rolled its way through the Stockport defence before being gathered by Glennon.
Ajose came close to bringing the home side level on 42 minutes after a neat flick from Michael Jones gave Phil Picken the chance to send the ball forward; Ajose latched on quickly before shooting from the right of the box, but it was blocked by Glennon's legs.
Four minutes of added time were indicated by the fourth official, as Stockport won a free kick; taken by Robbie Williams, it rolled out harmlessly for a Bury goal kick.
Time was soon called on a frustrating opening period for the Shakers; they were a goal behind and constantly being frustrated by the visitors who were snapping at their heels.

Ryan Lowe was on target with four minutes of normal time remaining; he stepped up to take a free kick outside the box, which he curled towards the top right hand corner, but Glennon's gloves were there yet again.
Four minutes of added time were indicated by the fourth official as Bury looked for an equaliser.
It wasn't to come and another one nil scoreline defeated the Shakers. Results around them in the table meant the after effects weren't too devastating, but they surrendered their automatic promotion place and slipped into fifth place.
