Bury vs Macclesfield Town
by Hannah Ingram at Gigg Lane
Bury had not played on home turf for over a month due to the snow which put a stop to three consecutive home games. Their last match at Gigg Lane saw them go out of the FA Cup in November, and the only league game since saw them lose 1-0 at Wycombe before Christmas.
They were lucky enough to still be in third place before this match due to plenty of other matches in League Two falling victim to the weather, while Macclesfield were sitting comfortably in mid table despite losing their previous two league games.
Some neat link up play between Ryan Lowe and Nicky Ajose set up Andy Haworth on the edge of the box in the first minute; shooting with his left foot, the ball went wide of the left post.
A corner from Michael Jones on 10 minutes from the left caused Macclesfield a problem at the near post where the ball had to be cleared inches from the goal.
A clever through ball from Jones on 27 minutes set up Ajose just inside the box but the ball ran away from him, allowing Jose Veiga in the Macclesfield goal to claim it.
GOAL! Richard Butler took the lead for Macclesfield on 29 minutes after he was found by a throw-in from the right hand side, driving the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

Time was soon called on a half that Bury couldn't get a hold of - the lack of matches in December seemed to have taken its toll as they looked a little out of shape as a team.
Neat passes that would ordinarily link up were running away from the feet and some players not Reading","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">reading the game left a few of the Bury team frustrated.
An injection of energy was needed in the second half if Bury were to get anything from the game.
