Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield vs Bury
by Hannah Ingram at the b2net stadium

This was to be a huge game in both Bury's and Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield's seasons - a win for the home side would see them clinch the Championship title after occupying the top spot for so long, and a win for Bury would virtually see them promoted to League One.

Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield were promoted on Good Friday without kicking a ball due to Wycombe only managing a 0-0 draw - and the Bury fans would be keeping one eye on Wycombe's match with Crewe this afternoon as they knew if Bury bettered their score, promotion could be secured.

It had been a very good season for both sides, and as they faced up to start the game, it was the team with the best home record in the league playing Bury with the best away record - a score prediction was anyone's guess.

Yellow card for Bury on 1 minute - Steven Schumacher

GOAL! Bury took the important lead after 12 minutes with another header from Tom Lees; a curling corner from Steven Schumacher met the head of Ben Futcher who laid the ball onto Lees to put Bury into the lead.

Lees was in the right place for another Schumacher corner on 15 minutes but he headed wide.

Nicky Ajose came close to doubling Bury's lead on 21 minutes after a poor backwards header from Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield was collected by the youngster, but he hit the side netting from the left of the box.

Kyle Bennett tried his luck from distance on 33 minutes after running along the top of the box, but fired well wide.

Time was soon called on a great first half for Bury - they did what they do best and came out to play, frustrating the home side. It was imperative to keep it up if Bury wanted to seal their fate today.

GOAL! Bury regained the lead on 55 minutes after Kyle Bennett ran from his own half with the ball before sending the ball out wide to Ryan Lowe; his shot from the left of the box was blocked but the ball fell to David Worrall who made no mistake from the right.

Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield 1 Bury 2

GOAL! Jack Lester brought the home side level again on 63 minutes with a strong shot from just inside the box which Cameron Belford couldn't get a hand to.

A surging run from Ryan Lowe on 68 minutes saw him pass to Ajose on the right; he took the ball into the box but maybe should've tried to finish the effort himself instead of bringing the ball back for Lowe who couldn't turn and shoot under pressure.

Craig Davies came close at the near post on 70 minutes, but he was denied by a great save from Cameron Belford.

Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield 2 Bury 3

Substitution for Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield on 90 (+2) minutes - Jordan Bowery on for Scott Griffiths

Late pressure from the home side saw a goal line clearance and a great save from Belford saw Bury cling on in the dying seconds.

In the end, it was to be Bury's day as they saw off an impressive Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield side to clinch promotion themselves.

The home side came out fighting after an average first half, and got their just desserts with two well-taken goals, but Bury ultimately had the edge.

Bury go into League One with Chesterfield","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Chesterfield, but who takes the title is anybody's guess with two games left. With six wins out of six, Bury can afford to dream.
