Bury vs Northampton Town
by Hannah Ingram at Gigg Lane
After taking three points down at Oxford, Bury returned to home turf to play a Northampton side that had yet to score in the league. Manager Alan Knill was eyeing up a top seven place after his side returned to good form after losing their opening two matches, but it would require a win against a team who also marginally missed out on the playoffs last season. The Shakers and Cobblers played each other on the closing day of the season last year, only for both to miss out on a shot at League One.
A neat moved between Michael Jones and Andy Bishop on 7 minutes saw Bishop send in a cross from the left of the box looking for the head of Jones at the far post, but Oscar Jansson came out to claim the ball.
Ryan Lowe teed up a shot from just outside the box on 12 minutes on the volley after Andy Haworth had kept possession on the left before squaring the ball to him, but Jansson got down low to gather the ball.
Stephen Guinan came close to opening the scoring for Northampton on 23 minutes after a neat through ball from Ryan Gilligan; Cameron Belford stormed out of his goal far enough to block the shot and send the ball away from goal.
Michael Jones tried a shot from outside the box on 24 minutes after a loose ball fell to his feet, but it flew past the right post.
GOAL! Northampton were awarded a questionable penalty on 31 minutes after Joe Skarz caught Stephen Guinan on his way into the box. Guinan converted the penalty also, shooting low and hard to the left, sending Belford the wrong way.
Bury 0 Northampton 1
A neat pass through for Lowe from Bishop on 35 minutes set him up just inside the box, but his shot was stopped by Jansson's legs.
One minute of added time was indicated by the fourth official as Bury were denied a free kick for a seemingly obvious handball from Northampton.
Time was soon called on a reasonably quiet first half for both sides. The midfield had dealt with most of the play, and it was a solitary goal for the Cobblers that was the difference between the sides.

Substitution for Northampton on 61 minutes - Tadgh Purcell on for Michael Jacobs
Double substitution for Bury on 62 minutes - Lenell John-Lewis on for Andy Bishop, David Worrall on for Michael Jones
GOAL! Bury brought things level on 69 minutes after a neat through ball from Haworth saw Ryan Lowe through on side; he rounded the keeper before shooting against the left post, but the ball came back out to the feet of David Worrall on the left of the goal who finished the move in style.

Substitution for Northampton on 77 minutes - Seb Harris on for Stephen Guinan
Substitution for Bury on 84 minutes - Ben Futcher on for Efe Sodje
Substitution for Northampton on 84 minutes - Kevin Thornton on for Paul Rodgers
A clever cross from Worrall on 87 minutes found Ryan Lowe at the near post, but he was dispossessed before he could make anything of the move.
Schumacher set Lowe up moments later on the right, but his shot skimmed across the face of goal.
Four minutes of additional time were indicated by the fourth official as both sides looked for a late winner. It never arrived, and both sides left the field with a point and a goal each.
Bury could consider themselves unlucky to have been behind at the break as they had played well, but they got a deserved equaliser in the end. Efe Sodje had to leave the field during his 500th league appearance after a clash of heads, and the team looked despondent as they left the field seemingly disappointed with a point.
