Bury took all three points in a heated fixture where they faced their former manager for the first time, but it was very much a game of two halves.

The Shakers gifted their opponents the ideal start, and they were ahead after just six minutes of play with a free kick on the left of the box.

A stern half time team talk did the trick for Richie Barker's men after a poor first half, and they flew out of the traps in the second period.

Five minutes in and Peter Sweeney brought Bury level, before Andy Bishop and Efe Sodje made sure of the points with a goal apiece, topping off an impressive second half performance.

GOAL! Bury didn't have the ideal start, falling behind after six minutes of play thanks to a free kick from the left of the box, conceded by Efe Sodje on Bobby Grant, which was curled into the net by Shane Duffy.

Minutes later and a Scunthorpe corner caused Bury problems in front of goal, but they had Cameron Belford to thank for keeping the deficit at one with a save at the near post from a Michael O'Conner header.

Andy Barcham made space on the right wing and managed to cross the ball into the box despite pressure from Phil Picken - former Bury loanee Jordan Robertson met the ball at the far post, but a safe from Belford denied him a goal. The resulting tussle with the Bury keeper saw him receive a booking.

Barcham was causing Bury problems again moments later, beating his man before trying a shot on goal from the right of the box, but the woodwork kept the score at 1-0.

A whipped cross from the left saw Mark Hughes connect with it at the near post and send the ball bouncing off the top of the crossbar. Barcham collected the loose ball and tried to shoot, but Ashley Eastham cleared off the goal line.

GOAL! Bury took the lead with style on 69 minutes with a well-worked goal for Andy Bishop. Michael Jones took the ball past Andrew Wright on the left hand side before crossing to the Bury striker who made no mistake in front of the travelling supporters.

A long range free kick from Peter Sweeney in added time forced a good save from Johnstone at the left post, giving Bury a corner.

Four minutes of added time were soon over and Bury got the better of Scunthorpe in a heated encounter. They had come from behind to overcome a Scunthorpe side who were very sharp and strong in the first half to run out eventual winners with style.
