The Shakers took the lead after 20 minutes with some fancy footwork from Liverpool","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Liverpool loanee David Amoo in the Walsall" target="_blank">Walsall","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Walsall" target="_blank">Walsall box, but what some would call a cross was turned into the Walsall" target="_blank">Walsall","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Walsall" target="_blank">Walsall net by Mat Sadler. Amoo claimed what he deserved after he and Peter Sweeney combined to take the ball forward.

The visitors hit back just before half time with a well-taken free kick from Jamie Paterson after a foul from Mark Hughes, but the Shakers struck back moments later with some style of their own in the shape of Sweeney's equally good free kick. Mark Hughes made sure of the goal on the line, leaving many debating whether Sweeney could claim it.

Bury's first real chance arrived after ten minutes - Andy Butler failed to deal with a seemingly easy ball on the edge of his own box, and Andy Bishop paced up to him to challenge. After some scrappy footwork in the box, the referee decided in Butler's favour, judging Bishop to have fouled.

Peter Sweeney picked out Joe Skarz with an inch-perfect pass on 12 minutes, sending the Yorkshireman down the left wing before he sent in a low cross. Bury took the lead after 20 minutes after silky skills from Sweeney and David Amoo - the midfielder took the ball on his chest before passing to the Liverpool","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,status=1,toolbar=1,location=1");return false;">Liverpool loanee on the right. His fancy footwork in the box saw him line up a shot which Mat Sadler seemed to get the final touch on.

The Shakers could have had a second moments later, when a looping cross from Amoo on the right found the head of Bishop at the far post, but Walker had it covered.

Bury's possession continued to create more chances for the home, and Jones saw his looping effort from the left of the box just tipped over the bar by Walker on 29 minutes.

GOAL! The visitors had their goal on 39 minutes with a well-taken free kick from Jamie Paterson after a foul ten yards away from the edge of the box. Belford dived the right way but it was inches too far from his gloves.

GOAL! The Shakers struck back with a free kick of their own moments after the restart - ex-Walsall" target="_blank">Walsall midfielder Peter Sweeney got his second goal against his former club in a matter of months with a swirling free kick from ten yards outside the box.

Alex Nicholls tried his luck from the right of the Bury box on 42 minutes, driving low and hard towards the far post, but Belford was there to palm the ball away for a corner.

Two minutes of added time were played out before the referee blew for half time.

A dangerous cross from Paterson on the left on 54 minutes looked destined for a tap in, but Bury's loan defender Ashley Eastham headed the ball clear, well over the bar.

Amoo was looking for his second of the afternoon, but a cross-come-shot on 74 minutes hit the side netting.

Steven Schumacher tried his luck with one of his famous long-range strikes on 81 minutes, but the Scouser saw his effort go wide of the left post.

Substitute Claude Gnakpa looked close to getting a late equaliser in the second minute of added time, but his glancing header went well wide from a whipped cross.

Four minutes of added time were eventually over, helped in part by an excellent period of play from Bury substitute David Worrall who caused problems after joining the field.
