by Hannah Ingram at Gigg Lane

Bury were overcome by a strong Sheffield United" target="_blank">Sheffield United side for the second time this season - and yet again after losing a key player in the transfer window.

The Shakers played well in the latter stages of the first half after having to overcome a confident start from the Blades, but the visitors came flying out after the break.

Richard Cresswell finished a one-on-one with Cameron Belford soon after the break, before Ched Evans and Lee Williamson both had moments of flair to cap off another win for the Blades, further cementing their spot in second.

Matt Lowton forced a save from Cameron Belford at his near post after 3 minutes of play - he beat Joe Skarz to take the ball deep into the box, but the Bury keeper had it covered.

Bury's best chance arrived on 21 minutes, following a period of sustained pressure and possession from the visitors - Peter Sweeney passed through to David Amoo as he made his way into the right hand side of the box, but he blasted the ball across the face of the goal.

Sweeney was back for more moments later, curling the ball into the box for Andy Bishop to get his head to, but he was muscled off the ball.

A strong tackle from Mark Carrington set the ball off down the left wing on 28 minutes, and it was soon at the feet of Steven Schumacher who tried his signature long-range effort from outside the box. It was spilled by Steve Simonsen and the loose ball fell to Andy Bishop, but his follow-up shot was blocked.

One minute of added time was played out to end a first half where Bury started as underdogs but by the time the whistle arrived, they looked on par with the visitors.

Sheffield United" target="_blank">Sheffield United started out on top as expected, but once Sweeney got the ball down, Amoo and Worrall started to run at the Blades and create chances worthy of a goal.
