The Shakers will wonder how they went from taking the lead and looking comfortable to leaving the field with ten men and an embarrassing score line.

They took the lead half way through the first half with a nice finish for Giles Coke, but minutes later, Carlisle were on level terms thanks to a stunner from Liam Noble.

A mistake from Phil Picken saw Jordan Cook run forward and take the home side into the lead with just over ten minutes left, before two goals in the final few moments rubbed salt into Bury's wounds to draw a line under a self-destructing final period.

The home side had the early bite of the cherry, with Jon-Paul McGovern forcing a save from Trevor Carson on 4 minutes with a shot from around the penalty spot following a swirling cross from the left.

Francois Zoko tried his luck from the left of the box on 13 minutes after a crossfield ball from Frank Simek, but Carson had it covered.

GOAL! The Shakers took the lead after 23 minutes, courtesy of a well-placed drive from Giles Coke. Lateef Elford-Alliyu and Mike Grella combined on the left of the box to trickle the ball through for Coke to finish from around the penalty spot.

GOAL! Bury's lead didn't last long, and the home side were back on level terms two minutes later. Liam Noble was the man with his name on the scoresheet, thanks to a stunning long-range effort which left Carson with no chance.

Bury yellow card on 26 minutes - Nathan Clarke

A Peter Sweeney free kick on 41 minutes was driven towards goal - it was deflected en route by Grella, and instead of disorientating Adam Collin in the United net, it sent the ball wide.

The Shakers played out two minutes of added time and left the field all square. Taking the lead must have been a huge mental boost for the Bury boys, despite the equaliser soon after.

Lee Miller tried his luck from distance on 47 minutes after a challenge from Clarke was penalised, but his powerful effort dipped just over the bar.

Fancy footwork from Elford-Alliyu saw him set up Grella as he took the ball deep into the Carlisle box on 53 minutes, but his cross was cleared from in front of Coke.

A Sweeney cross from the right swirled into the box on 68 minutes but was headed clear by Danny Livesey for a throw in. Clarke used his strength to send in a looping throw - the ball found the feet of Elford-Alliyu but he couldn't connect with the ball as he tried to finish from close range.

Carlisle substitution on 74 minutes - Tom Taiwo replaced by Jordan Cook

GOAL! The home side took the lead on 78 minutes with a goal for Cook, who had only joined the field four minutes previously. A mistake from Phil Picken on the right saw Cook pace into the box, one-on-one with Carson and he slotted home.

The Bury team looked incredibly dejected as they left the field and will probably wonder how they went from taking the lead and looking like real competitors to an embarrassing score line.
