Bury's League One survival was as good as cemented with an important home win and a second goal in as many games for Mike Grella.

The away side didn't give up and they looked keen for a point up until the final whistle, but resolute defending from Bury kept them at bay.

The Shakers got the ball on the ground from the first whistle and got their reward for sharp passing in the opening stages.

GOAL! Bury took the lead on 10 minutes with a second goal in two games for Mike Grella. The American robbed Miles Addison of the ball on the edge of the box before taking the ball forward and burying from the left of the box with a sweet finish.

Wes Fogden will wonder how he didn't score on 22 minutes - a curling cross from Marc Pugh on the left skimmed just in front of Zavon Hines' head as he dived forward, falling to Malone on the right of the box, but his low effort went wide of the far post.

Bury reacted with a free kick from Schumacher on the left two minutes later, which forced Darryl Flahavan to tip the ball over the bar.

Pugh was picked out on the left of the box on 33 minutes, but his resulting shock lacked the powerneeded to trouble Bond.

One minute of added time was played out as Bury left the field keeping their slender lead.

Addison got on the end of a dangerous free kick from Daniels, but his header at the far post went wide.

Sweeney made the most of a ball on the right on 70 minutes but once he got into the box on the right, he floated the ball over the bar.

Wes Thomas tried to bury the ball from the right of the box moments later, but an important block from Andrai Jones kept him at bay.

Fogden forced a brilliant save from Bond on 83 minutes with a powerful drive from just inside the box, but Bury bounced back moments later with a great effort from Coke on the right. The Sheffield Wednesday loanee struck the ball with power but Flahavan got to it, sending it wide.

Three minutes of added time were indicated by the fourth official as Bury aimed to cling on to their narrow lead. Former Shaker Pugh did the hard work down the right in the second minute, but floated his cross out of play while being chased down by Elford-Alliyu.

The three minutes were soon up and Bury were celebrating becoming as good as safe in League One for next season.
