Bury finally claimed their first league win of the season and hauled themselves off the bottom of the league, at the expense of their opponents.
A confident display saw Bury take a 1-0 lead into the break after a neat forward move down the left from Dominic Poleon set up Tom Hopper with a simple finish from close range.
The Shakers extended their lead with a stunning goal for David Worrall on 55 minutes, but the visitors replied with a stunner of their own moments later from Ryan Noble.
Hartlepool came close to taking a pointwith a penalty kick with six minutes left to play, but Neil Austin blasted the ball against the bar.
Tom Hopper was on target for Bury within the first minute of play, after a sweet pass through from Dominic Poleon in the middle. He dragged the ball out to the left of the box to shoot, forcing Hartlepool keeper Scott Flinders to scramble and stop the ball in front of the line.
Jack Baldwin stung the hands of Trevor Carson on 5 minutes – he got his foot behind a powerful long-rang drive and the Bury keeper was in the right place at the right time to keep the ball out.
A curling cross from David Worrall on the right found the head of Andy Bishop in front of goal on 9 minutes, but Bishop could only watch as his headed effort looped over the bar.

Austin tested Carson’s reaction speed on 22 minutes with a curled free kick from well outside the box – the Bury keeper saw it early and palmed the ball round the post.
Steven Schumacher drove a free kick from the far left of the box straight at Flinders on 33 minutes, only to see the ball parried away. It fell into the path of Matt Doherty just inside the box, but his scuffed effort went well wide.
Ryan Noble reacted with a chance of his own moments later, cutting inside past Adam Lockwood before teeing up a shot, which Carson caught.
Worrall beat the offside trap with style on 37 minutes, only to see his one-on-one run with Flinders end with the ball being blocked.
GOAL! Bury’s persistence paid off moments later, with another goal for loanee Hopper. A low cross from Poleon on the left sneaked through the legs of the Hartlepool back line and Hopper put the ball past Flinders to fire the Shakers into the lead.

As the seconds of the first half ticked away, Noble saw a golden chance for the visitors to equalise go begging – with time to tee up his shot from close range, he somehow blasted it over the bar under pressure from Carson.

Bury flew out of the traps and had a great chance within the first minute of the second half – a header from Bishop at the near post looked destined for a goal but was cleared for a corner.
Peter Sweeney outsmarted his marker on the right on 54 minutes, teeing up the cross to meet the head of Bishop, but his effort went well over the bar.
GOAL! Bury extended their lead moments later with a stunner of a goal from Worrall – a cross from Joe Skarz on the left found an unmarked Worrall, whose curling effort went in off the post.

GOAL! Hartlepool hit back with a stunning goal of their own on 58 minutes – Noble struck the ball with venom from far out and bewitched Carson in the Bury net as the ball dropped into it.

Schumacher tested Flinders at his near post again on 67 minutes, with a free kick on the left, but the keeper had his eye on the ball and gathered it at his feet.
Matt Doherty made the most of a forward pass on 70 minutes, turning on the edge of the box and taking the ball with him – his low drive rolled just wide of the near post.

David Healy was inches from extending Bury’s lead on 79 minutes – he did the hard work by taking the ball past Flinders in the Hartlepool net after he was headed on side, but as he tried to follow the ball into the net, Hartlepool got it clear with seconds to spare.
Bury saw their lead in jeopardy on 84 minutes as the visitors were awarded a penalty for a foul on Noble in the box. Austin stepped up to take the spot kick but blasted the ball against the bar.
A free kick from Schumacher on the right moments later found the feet of an unmarked Healy, but his shot sailed well over the bar.
Hartlepool must have wondered what they had to do to score on 88 minutes – the ball pinged around the Bury box before falling to Nathan Luscombe who rattled the woodwork with his blasted effort from the left of the box.

Five added minutes were indicated by the fourth official as Bury tried to keep hold of the ball and their lead.
Despite a late push forward from the visitors, Bury claimed their first league win of the season and climbed off the bottom of the league, at the expense of their opponents.
