Alexander sets out transfer policy
Keith Alexander has said he will not mess with his tried and tested transfer policy after being installed as Bury's new director of football.
The man who led Lincoln City to the play-offs on four successive occasions in the last five seasons has been put in charge of the Shakers' recruitment.
He will work alongside first team manager Chris Casper, and said he will continue to utilise the non-leagues in the same way he famously did during his time at Sincil Bank.
"I have always looked at the non league whenever I can because there are some great players at prices we can afford," Alexander said.
"The division is full of people with league experience, whether that be at first team or centre of excellence level, and they are itching to get another chance."
Like Casper, Alexander has also reiterated that the Shakers will need more experience in their squad if they are to challenge in the higher reaches of the division next season.
"I have got scope to bring players in, and I will look to do that right away.
"At this level I think it is important to have experienced players, and by that I don't necessarily mean old players.
"You can have guys in their mid-20s who have played 200 league games, and that is the type of player that I want to bring on board.
"I'm not here to hang around. There are players out there right now who are looking for clubs so I know I have got a job to do."
Alexander's appointment was hailed as a "coup" for the club by director Ian Harrop - and Alexander said that although other offers had been tabled for next season, he was excited about his new role.
"I have known about it for a couple of days now. I was asked if I fancied coming to the club, and thought, why not?
"I had a successful few years with Lincoln, but this is a new club with new people. It excites me to come here."
Alexander left Lincoln in May 2006, having guided the club into the top seven on four successive occasions in his second stint at the club.
In the middle of his tenure at Sincil Bank, he battled back from surgery on his brain after suffering a cerebral aneurysm in November, 2003.
He moved to Peterborough at the start of last season, but was replaced in January by Darren Ferguson.
