"One of the areas that we have to look at is the keeper situation.  Andy Warrington was one of the players offered a new deal, but he's got a better deal elsewhere and unfortunately that's life in football, but I am never one to talk about players that are not here. He was offered a deal, he has chosen to go elsewhere, best of luck to him.  We will bring a goalkeeper in, there's no doubt about that one. You will find that I never talk about people that have gone."

"We have several players in mind for all the positions, but as I keep saying, there is no rush to bring them in.  If I signed them this week, we have to pay them over the summer, we don't need them until the 5th July when we start pre-season training.  Even when we start pre-season training, whilst we will have a decent squad, we will also be having one or two to look at."

"I'm also hoping to take the players away for a few days for them to get to know me, for them to get to know each other, but you will also see one or two trialists coming in.  I will be looking at everything, even the coaches we have here and what the club needs to move forward and that includes all the coaching positions, they all come under my remit and I will be talking to everybody at the club at this moment in time to see what they can offer us and to see if they are what I want."

"We have to realise that the teams that came down, are going back up. That tells its own story. It means that this division is not as good as it used to be because the teams that came down from the division above used to struggle"

"It drives me mad being labelled about the style of play.  In fairness to a lot of people in my first couple of years at Lincoln, we were labelled a long ball team.  I've been unhappy with that because I don't think we have been for the last two or three years.  Lincoln played some very good football, we had a lot of good players.  People can call me what they want, as long as I get the results and get this club out of this division.  We will play football in the right areas of the pitch, there is no doubt about that."

"The last thing we want to do, and Chris Casper will tell you this, and I think he has mellowed over this in the last few years, is play the ball across the back four from right back to left back and left back to right back and give the opposition the opportunity of taking the ball of us.  We want to be a good side, we want to play good football and we want to play that football in the right areas of the pitch."

"I think of the division that we are in at this level.  We have to realise that the teams that came down, are going back up.  That tells its own story.  It means that this division is not as good as it used to be because the teams that came down from the division above used to struggle."

"It's not financial; it's a question that they have better players.  Look at the conference where everyone expected the teams that went down to come straight back up, that's not happened this year.  There's a gap between the divisions now, we want to be bridging that gap and getting out of this division."

"It's not as easy to get out of the conference as people think, Oxford have just proved that.  Having said that, they got off to a great start and people are surprised that they didn't get out.  I watched them several times and they are a good side.  Being a good side doesn't necessarily mean anything.  You need to be organised, you need everything to go your way."

"There is a lot of nonsense talked about long ball.  When Manchester United were at their peek, Schmeichel used to throw it to Beckham and he'd smack it 60 yards.  Nobody complained about that.  Chelsea get it up there to Drogba as quick as they can do.  Nobody complains about that.  You can get carried away with the style of play.  We want to produce a team that wins football matches and supporters will come and watch a team that wins.  We are in the results game."

"There's no difference between a 40 yard Brian Barry-Murphy ball and a 40 yard Steven Gerrard incisive pass.  You listen to football commentators and five live have a lot to answer for because football at this level is not worth watching as far as they are concerned.  You see an awful lot of similar play going on in the premiership, but because it's the Premiership, Wigan and Watford are the most direct teams I've ever seen, but they don't get labelled with it because they are in the Premiership."

"I don't want to be involved with teams at the bottom of the table. Peterborough should have strolled it this season, I left when they were two points of the play offs and they should have done it comfortably. Lincoln are in the play offs with seven or eight of the players that I left there"

"Bolton pass the ball around yet Sam Allardyce was labelled a long ball manager.  You accept it, I've accepted it and it doesn't bother me.  I'm only interested in producing a successful team and getting to the play offs if we can and getting out of this division."

"It's too early to ask what my ambition is, but I'm ambitious.  I don't want to be involved with teams at the bottom of the table.  Peterborough should have strolled it this season, I left when they were two points of the play offs and they should have done it comfortably.  Lincoln are in the play offs with seven or eight of the players that I left there.  We think we know what is required."

"I'm very keen on a youth policy, everywhere I have been we have had a youth policy, apart from Peterborough, and they didn't have reserves or a youth team.  We produced a lot of good players at Lincoln and sold them on for a lot of money and we have to do the same here."

"We have to get our young players in the team as soon as possible.  Premiership sides will take your 16 and 17 year olds, but they won't take 19 or 20 year olds these days because they have plenty of those, so we want to make sure our youth policy is as good as it has been and better."

"There's no harm in a 18 year old having 40 or 50 games, if your good enough your old enough."

"On matchdays, I'm certainly not a shirt and tie man.  I will be involved in all aspects of the club and will be helping with training as well.  There's one or two things I'd like to change, the dressing room for a start needs smartening up.  The players need to be in the best possible environment.  I've been impressed with what I have seen, it's a tidy setup.  The people at the club are very enthusiastic and they want to do well."
