Director also set to join fundraising walk
A recent meeting between the Bury FC Directors and the Forever Bury Directors was held to discuss their working relationship and to lay down plans of how both parties will work together even more closely throughout 2012. As a result the Bury FC Directors have asked Forever Bury to play their part in helping to cover the costs of a major refurbishment of the player's changing rooms
With costs expected to be in the region of £20,000 and Forever Bury only having the Sponsored Walk and the Annual Beer Festival to bring in cash for the project it's imperative that fans rally round and support both ventures.
Forever Bury Chairman Dave Giffard has confirmed that fans taking part in this year's sponsored walk to Rochdale on January 28th will, subject to raising £100 or more of sponsorship, receive a refund of their admission money for this fixture when their sponsorship is paid in full. All supporters taking part can also receive entry into a draw for a signed Steven Schumacher match day shirt, PLUS a free signed photo of your favourite player.
Director Mark Catlin has also confirmed that he will be completing the walk, as it aims to raise money for a much-needed renovation of the player's dressing room.
Dave Giffard explained to buryfc.co.uk; "In years gone by we have seen as many as a hundred walkers take part in our annual sponsored walk, but recently the numbers have declined and we are going to be working hard over the next few weeks to get as many supporters to take part in this seasons event. This year we hope to see the start of the revival and raise much needed funds for the club. Apart from the important fact of raising money, it's generally a great day and we all really have a good laugh. If supporters hit certain sponsorship targets then this season we are looking at rewarding supporters for the effort that they are making via various Bury FC related freebies. As we try to raise £20,000 it would be great to see 400 or 500 walkers en route especially if each walker can raise at least £50 of sponsorship.
We appreciate that not everyone can walk there and that some fans may not even be going to the match but, as the player's have been brilliant over the past two seasons, it would be a fitting tribute to them to upgrade their dressing room, so please sponsor one of the walkers."
Mark Catlin commented. "I just want to support what Dave has said in that we need as many supporters as possible to join us. Apparently there is a pub 'pit stop' on the way where I am buying everyone a drink. Look, if I can do it then there should not be any excuses from anyone else, especially our younger supporters!"
