Director of Football Keith Alexander had something to get off his chest this morning regarding the Drewe Broughton affair.

Striker Drewe Broughton signed a twelve month contract for MK Dons on Tuesday evening, and the move has annoyed the Shakers director of football.

Speaking to buryfc.co.uk this morning, Keith Alexander said:  "I've been in football a long time and I've never seen anything like this.  We invited Drewe Broughton over for a trial over pre-season, and he had done enough for us to offer him a contract.  He played in two games for us and the offer was made."

"To be fair to Drewe, he did tell us that he had also received an offer from MK Dons that was three times the offer we made.  Players will always look at other clubs and better offers, that's a fact of life."

"However, on Monday I received a phone call from his agent telling us that it wasn't right for him in Milton Keynes and he was heading back to Bury looking to sign the contract that we had offered him. He was at our game with Hyde United on Monday night, but didn't play at his request because of all the travelling he had done.  We were under the impression that he would be in the club to sign the contract on Wednesday."

"On Tuesday night at ten o'clock, I received a phone call from Drewe's agent, telling us that he had just signed a twelve month contract with MK Dons.  Obviously, he has had his offer improved.  I'm not happy with the situation at all, and I told his agent that, I also told his agent to remind Drewe who he would face in the first game of the season."

"It's a fact of life and we won't lose any sleep on this, we will move on."
