Work underway at Gigg Lane

Posted on: Fri 09 May 2008

Work is well underway preparing for another season at Gigg Lane.

The Pitch
Groundsman Michael Curtis and his staff have stripped an area of the pitch in readiness for re-seeding.  The area in question is on the South Stand half of the surface and the top inch has been skimmed off.  With a good root base of grass left on the surface, and the introduction of new seed the surface will be back to its very best come the 19th July when Huddersfield Town arrive at Gigg Lane.

The South Stand
For years the stand had been dressed in the 'Miliken' Signage.  This has now been removed in readiness for new sponsors arriving at the club over the course of the summer.  Anyone who is interested in getting their company advertised on the top of the South Stand should contract the commercial office at Gigg Lane.  Ground maintenance men Kevin Lowe and Tony Wilson have spent the best part of the week up in the air removing the old signs.

The Scoreboard
The scoreboard is now in the final stages of repair and work on the board should be completed today.

Further work around the club will be taking place with many areas getting a fresh lick of paint, including the clubs main reception.
