Four sign on
By Michael Hoyle
Northern Ireland under 21 midfielder David Buchanan was the first to put pen to paper on his new contract this morning, closely followed by Brian Barry-Murphy, Glynn Hurst and Cameron Belford.
David Buchanan gained his first team shirt with Bury in February 2005, though his debut came towards the end of that season when he came off the bench at Kidderminster Harriers in a 2-2 draw.Since then, David has represented Northern Ireland at U19 & U21 level.Since his debut, David has played 121 games for the club, though he has yet to find his scoring boots.
Shifted to left back in the side upon the arrival of Alan Knill, David has more or less made the position his own with some excellent gritty performances in the latter half of the season.David has signed a two year contract.
Brian Barry-Murphy, the clubs longest serving player following Colin Woodthorpe's release at the end of last season, joined the Shakers in July 2004 on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.Since joining, only Paul Scott has played more games BBM's 146 appearances and ten goals.Known as the Shakers dead ball specialist, Murph will be looking to become a more regular player under Alan Knill. Brian has signed a two year extension to his current deal.
Cameron Belford arrived at Gigg Lane as pre-season started before last season and thus far has worn the Shakers shot stopping shirt just one after coming on as a late substitute during the final game of last season. He spent most of the second half of the campaign at Blue Square North side Worcester City on loan and will be keen to push Wayne Brown for a starting place this season.Cam has signed a one year deal.
Glynn Hurst joined Bury initially on loan from Shrewsbury Town in September 2006 and quickly showed us why the term prolific is often used when describing his game.A hat full of goals followed in the three month loan spell before the move was made permanent in January 2007.Since joining, Hursty has made 86 appearances, scoring twelve goals in the process, Glynn will sign a twelve month contract tomorrow.
All four players will be back at Gigg Lane on Tuesday morning when Pre Season training commences.
Reaction from Alan Knill will be live on the main website and Shakers World later.
