Peter Taylor wins Manager of the Month Award
Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for November.
Taylor's side were in fantastic form throughout November, with three wins and a draw from their four league games. The Chairboys began the month with a solid point away at Rotherham United before bagging a vital victory against title rivals Bradford City at Adams Park. Consecutive victories over Port Vale and Notts County followed to leave Taylor's men heading into December at the top of Coca-Cola League 2 and with the only remaining unbeaten league record in English football.
Also short-listed for the November award were Gary Waddock of Aldershot Town, Alan Knill of Bury and Rochdale's Keith Hill.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said:
"Peter Taylor's Wycombe are enjoying an incredible season. To be the only team in English football yet to lose a league game is a phenomenal achievement and testament to Peter's skill as a manager. If they can keep up this winning habit it is going to be very difficult for any other side to knock Wycombe off top spot in League 2 this season."
Mick McCarthy of Wolverhampton Wanderers won the award in the Championship and Milton Keynes Dons' Roberto Di Matteo was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Richard Bevan and Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
Speaking to buryfc.co.uk this afternoon, Shakers gaffer Alan Knill said: "I don't want it, but its good to be nominated. We've been nominated three times in four months and it just shows how well the players have been doing. I'm delighted to be nominated, but happy not to get it, but we must be doing something right to get nominated."
