Retained List for 2009/10
Glynn Hurst, Paul Morgan & Steve Haslam have been released from their respective contracts at Gigg Lane and are now free to sign for other clubs whilst the club has activated a clause in Ben Futcher's contract for another 12 months. Richie Baker, Danny Racchi and Cameron Belford have all been offered new contracts.
Loan Players: Elliott Bennett, Phil Jevons and John Welsh have all returned to their respective clubs. The club wishes to place on record their thanks to the three players and to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Hull City for the loan of the players to the Shakers.
Without doubt the most successful of the three loan players is Elliott Bennett. A young player that arrived at Gigg Lane in February 2008.Signed by Chris Brass just days towards the end of his tenure as caretaker manager, Elliott arrived at Gigg Lane not knowing what he was stepping into. His thoughts were a little more jaded following his first appearance for the Shakers - a 1-5 mauling against MK Dons at Gigg Lane.
However, Alan Knill arrived at the club two days later and the rest they say is history. One of the most successful loan deals turned from a month into a season and half as Elliott completed a total 61 games, including a complete 46 starts this season.During this time with the Shakers, Elliott scored a total of four goals.
Elliott heads back to a Premiership Wolverhampton and our thanks and thoughts go with him, along with a host of new friends and well wishers.

Ritchie Baker - Offered terms
Glynn Hurst - Released

Of the players released Glynn Hurst played a total of 127 games scoring 27 goals. Glynn joined initially on loan from Shrewsbury Town in September 2006 and immediately starting scoring goals for the Shakers. He signed a two year deal in January 2007 before extending to the end of this season last year. Popular with the fans and players, Glynn leaves with the clubs thanks and best wishes.
Paul Morgan signed for the Shakers at the start of last season (2007/08). During his two years with the club he made only 22 appearances for the Shakers. A change in manager plus injury saw Morg's lose his place in the side with Alan Knill playing a totally different brand of football. Paul joined Macclesfield Town during the closed season on a season long loan deal where he played 43 games and was crowned the Silkmen's player of the season. Again, Paul leaves with the clubs best wishes and thanks.
Steve Haslam joined the club in June 2007 on a free transfer from Halifax Town. The former Sheffield Wednesday player went on to complete 61 games for the Shakers, scoring one goal - a 25 yard drive at Nott's County last season. As with the other two released players Steve leaves with the best wishes from his many friends at the club and our thanks for his service to the Shakers.
Youth Team: Centre half David Thompson and Josh Rothwell have been offered their first professional contracts. All remaining second year scholars have left the club.
All players will return for pre-season training, hopefully with a few additions, on Monday 06 July 2009.
