Former Shakers Captain, Chris Lucketti, dropped in at Gigg Lane recently to visit the Forever Bury Cabin and sign up to the fans organisation. A keen Forever Bury supporter Chris has been involved since its inception and acted as a sponsor on numerous occasions. He always sponsors a beer at the Forever Bury Beer Festival and when he dropped in at the last one he had a chat with some of the board and discussed how he could become more involved.
Chairman, Dave Giffard said, "We were delighted Chris wanted to be more involved so we talked about it at one of our board meetings. He's a legend at Gigg Lane and also a real gentleman. I've never heard a bad word about him from any fans or anyone in the football world. We have been in existence since 2002 and been on the look out for someone who could take on the role of President of Forever Bury so it was an easy decision to offer him the post and we're especially pleased that he has accepted"
With the current membership standing at 676 it is hoped that the new President can help to persuade more of the Shakers fans to join but his first job is to try and get more of the ex-players involved.
Chris said, " I was delighted to be asked to become President, because without fans there would be no football clubs. The rapport I had with the Bury fans was fantastic in my time at the club and the success the team and fans enjoyed was incredible! Probably the most happy I have had in football, Bury is a great club and all supporters should join Forever Bury if possible to help support and play a part in rebuilding the club."
Chris Lucketti was recruited by Bury FC from non-league Halifax Town in 1993 and captained the side through its most successful period which included a first ever trip to Wembley for an unsuccessful play-off final, followed by the double promotions which took them into the 1st division. In all he played 262 league and cup games and scored 9 goals.
