The 'Gigg Issue' has gone and we've gone for a total overhaul of the programme for the clubs 125th anniversary season with lots of new features.
The old regulars are back with their unique views on football and the Shakers with Ian McPherson taking us back through the years; Leigh Edwards introduces various players that have played for both Bury and Grimsby Town whilst Tony Cunningham gives his own superb view on the world of football.
Alan Knill welcomes everyone back to Gigg Lane for the game. Skipper Paul Scott also welcomes everyone to the ground as well as giving his thoughts on recent events in and around the club.
'Setting the scene' is the start of our introduction to the Marines with details of the history between the two clubs plus a quick look at our last meeting. We also start the season off with a detailed look at the referee, in this case - Mr Russell Booth. We've dedicated four pages to Grimsby Town as we take a look at their players and management and finish off the section with a past game between Bury & Grimsby - Saturday 25 March 2005 to be exact about it and the emergence of a young Bury player that left to appear in the Champions League and UEFA's Eurpoean Championships for Turkey.
Commercial Corner is back with Peter Young giving his latest news. Martin Ogden has been joined this season with an understudy - Zoe Hitchen has joined the media team for matchdays. Two photographers means more photo's, so each programme will have FOUR pages of match action images.
The 'In depth' player interview this weekend is a little unique in that we've been speaking to a former player, Gigg Lane legend Dean Kiely tells us about his 750th senior appearance at Gigg Lane and more.
It's the club's 125th anniversary, we all know it - but do you know the full story of the clubs birth. We've got another new feature with a double page spread running throughout the season that tells the story of the clubs birth to entry into the football league. It's a riveting read and worth getting the programme just for this. Just reading this programme will give you the the name of the clubs very first goalscorer!
We also continue with our roll of honour and give you all the stats of all the players that have represented the club from the first league game to the last game of last season, simply called 'the Shakers', it's the most up to date list of players printed to date to have represented the club over 125 years of football.
A few years back, a young slip of a lass started working for the official website on Matchdays, compiling the official report etc etc. Hannah Ingram then went and got her English Degree with Eric Wood stepping in to take over here role. Now the roles are reversed. Eric's gone off to Uni with our thanks and appreciation and we wish him well. Hannah is back to replace Eric, so we've given her old page back - 'Hannah's diary' will chronicle the media teams exploits up and down the country with her unique and witty observations throughout the season. Hannah returns for this programme and gives her view on the trip to Darlington
It's a packed programme to celebrate the clubs 125th anniversary, and when we do get around celebrating the anniversary, we will be producing a bumper edition of the programme with double the pages and double the articles.
The new programme is now a whopping 72 pages, but the best news of all - we've kept the price down to just £2.50. Get your copy of 'The Shakers' - in and around the ground on Saturday.
