Team of the week

Posted on: Mon 21 Sep 2009

Each week the Official Football League website will bring you the Team of the Week. Produced by the Press Association, the Team's of the Week feature the eleven top performing players from each division from this weekend's matches.

Sol Campbell may have made his debut in Coca-Cola League 2 but his performance was overshadowed by his opposite number Jim Bentley as Morecambe beat Notts County 2-1 at Christie Park. Bentley opened the scoring for the Shrimps before holding off the challenge of Lee Hughes and Karl Hawley to earn Morecambe their first win of the season.

Both Hereford United and Chesterfield have two players in the Coca-Cola League 2 Team of the Week after their excellent wins at the weekend.

The Bulls have defender Darren Jones and midfielder Sam Gwynne named after their 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley. While Spireites midfielder Donal McDermott and striker Wade Small make it after both were on target in their 4-1 win over Macclesfield Town.

Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman joins Small in attack after he scored both goals in the Cherries' 2-0 win away at Darlington to take his tally to five for the season and keep Bournemouth top of the league.

Finally, Shakers skipper Paul Scott was named following his performance in Saturdays 1-0 win at Port Vale.
