Bury manager Alan Knill has confirmed that Bury are seeking to sign David Worrall on a permanent deal. Saturday's game at Grimsby Town was his final appearance for the Shakers under the terms of his loan arrangement with West Bromwich Albion. Speaking to the media following the game, the Shakers gaffer said:-
"It was David's last game but I think we are close to a deal with David and we are close to a deal with West Brom to take him permanently. We are trying to get it sorted out soon. We've spoken to David and for me he is a young player with a lot of potential, and I am sure that we can make him better. The good thing for us is that he believes we can make him better."
"Getting David to agree to terms is not the easy part though, that's how it is these days, but like I do with everybody I will tell him the truth and what we think we can do for him. Then its upto him to believe that, but I can guarantee that there are not many players leave Bury at the moment that have left as worse players. We think we are close with David, and then we will talk to West Brom."
Meanwhile, David Worrall also spoke of the potential move and said:
"We've been talking and I am in the club this week talking about a contract and we will see where it goes from there. I'm looking for a permanent move because West Brom have agreed with me that I can leave so it's a case of looking for the right deal for me."
David Worrall was a product of the Shakers Youth System and moved to the Hawthorns in March 2007 in a £50,000 deal whilst still a youth team player. In total he has made one substitute appearance for the Baggies in a league cup tie. He joined Bury at the start of the season on loan and has played a total of 21 appearances, scoring four goals during his time with Bury.
Video interviews from both Alan Knill and David Worrall will be live on Shakers Player later on Saturday evening.
