Darlington game snowed off

Posted on: Thu 07 Jan 2010

It will come as no surprise to anyone that has been in and around Gigg Lane over the last week to hear that Saturdays League Two clash with Darlington at has been postponed.

The game was called off today due to the sheer volume of snow currently covering the Gigg Lane ground, plus the falling temperatures affecting the whole country at the moment.  Underneath the nine inches of snow and ice, the pitch is also frozen solid.

Safety of supporters coming into the stadium is also of the upmost concern to the club and after taking into account several factors, the conditions around the stadium, the sheer volume of snow and the frozen pitch - a local referee has confirmed the clubs fears and called the game off.
