Midfielder David Worrall has signed a two and a half year contract with the Shakers. The former West Bromwich Albion youngster put pen to paper on the contract at Gigg Lane this afternoon.
Alan Knill revealed last weekend that he was hoping to sign the youngster on a permanent deal as soon as possible. David's loan spell from West Brom finished following Saturdays 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town. Worrall, 19, also revealed that the Baggies had agreed with the player that he could leave the Hawthorns and David has quickly agreed terms with Alan Knill and the club.
David has signed on a free transfer, though there will be a sell on clause activated should he be sold on before the end of his current contract.
Manchester born David is a product of the Shakers Youth System that progressed through the ranks from the clubs centre of excellence. His determination shone through the various junior teams before he joined the Youth Team in 2006.
It wasn't long before he was attracting attention from clubs higher up the football league ladder and in March 2007, whilst still a 1st year scholar, an offer of £50,000 from West Bromwich Albion took him to the Hawthorns. David made just one appearance for the Baggies first team before his departure. Tipped as a player for the future by the management team at the Baggies he has thus far made only one appearance for them in the League Cup.
David has been loaned out to two league two clubs before joining Bury on loan in August 2009. Five games for Accrington Stanley and 12 games for Shrewsbury Town, including two against Bury in the 2008/09 Play off Semi Finals. A quick and tricky midfielder, David is the type of player that can changes games in an instant and his return to Gigg Lane has gone down very well with all Shakers supporters. His loan spell with shakers brought 19 appearances with three goals.
