Lowey rewarded by Coca Cola

Posted on: Sat 06 Mar 2010

Bury striker Ryan Lowe was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Player of the Month for January 2010.

Lowe was in excellent form in January, scoring twice in four league games. His crucial goals in the 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town and 2-1 win against Bradford City helped Alan Knill's men secure 10 points from a possible 12 in the month, strengthening their bid for an automatic promotion place in Coca-Cola League 2.

Also short-listed for the January award were Chris Dunn of Northampton Town, Lee Hughes of Notts County and Rochdale's Chris O'Grady.

Charlie Adam of Blackpool won the award in the Championship and Swindon Town's Billy Paynter was given the League 1 accolade.

The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Player of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Player of the Month awards panel which includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Steve Bates, Chairman of the Football Writers' Association, Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
