Bury FC have launched a new initiative aimed specifically at raising money for renovation of the social club.Club Director Mark Catlin has promised that all monies raised on these events will be 100% ploughed back into specific, pre-agreed, projects required to bring the club into the 21st century.

"It is clear that the social club is need of investment, but with so much of our resources going in support of the clubs push for promotion, to divert funds at this time is just so difficult.

The club has already put aside money to renovate the roof, which is essential, but it is clear that so much more is needed to raise the club up to its former glory. With this in mind we have decided to put on a series of fundraisers at the social club so that it can itself pay for the works required, but success will depend on how our fans support the initiative.

We are not asking for charity here, we are asking you to support us, and come and have a great series of evenings in the bargain. Once the roofing work is completed our next project will be for a suspended ceiling, provisional quotes for this are £5000.

We have arranged 'An evening with the Legends' to kick off the 'S.O.S' on Friday March 5th and ALL profits from this evening will contribute towards our first target. Once this target is reached we will then move on to a new project the following month which we will naturally advertise once our initial target has been met."

Tickets for the evening will be priced at £10 and this will include a running buffet.In addition to a Q and A session with the Legends there will also be a raffle, auction (including the chance to play for the legends at Gigg lane later in the season!) and disco to end the evening.

There will be a maximum of 200 tickets sold, and we already have a vast array of former players coming to the event, plus one or two of the current squad will also be in attendance.
