Striker Danny Carlton could be handed the news he's been waiting for any day now - return to full training.

The former Morecambe and Carlisle striker joined the club over the summer but was injured in the second game of the season against West Bromwich Albion at Gigg Lane.  A snapped Achilles tendon was quickly operated on and the long slow road to fitness began soon after.

Carlton went through a rigorous 'strength test' on the ankle on Thursday.  The results of that test are expected to land on Alan Knill's desk within the next few days.

Those results will reveal a target for Danny - either full training on Monday morning, or a few more weeks work.  Hopefully we'll have the results of that test early next week.

Speaking to Shakers Player on Thursday afternoon, Alan Knill said:  "If the test has gone well, then Danny will be back training with the first team next week, if he does train then it will be maybe two weeks to get him fit and upto speed.  He's on track and it has taken exactly as long as we expected it to.  There was a thought of its going to be next season, but that was coming from Danny himself and we quickly stopped that because we want him to be ready for this season.  I want him back now, as soon as possible.  Its important that you push players."
