Vital game for Shakers

Posted on: Fri 30 Apr 2010

Saturday's final home game of the season will be a special edition programme with not only a 16 page pull out special created to mark the clubs 125th anniversary, but also a complete reprint of a Bury programme from 03 May 1947.

The special pull out features just a small part of the clubs history, the two FA Cup Finals, the clubs longest serving manager - Archie Montgomery, stats, facts and records, international shakers, the story of the Gigg Lane floodlights, Sam Wynne and the 1,000 club .

The special edition programme re-print is the Bury v Tottenham Hotspur programme from 03 May 1947 and will quickly become a collectors item amongst the memorabilia collectors.

The programme itself features all the usual items from this seasons regulars as well as carrying details on the former players that will be attending Saturdays game - can you name the player better known as the 'Black Prince'.He's about to grace the Gigg Lane pitch once again.

Also, a host of former Bury greats will be back at Gigg Lane for this game, including Alex Dawson, Bill Calder, Bobby Owen, Chris Lucketti, Derek Spence, George Jones, Liam Robinson, Paul Williams', Peter Farrell and more

The programme will be available in and around the ground from 2:00pm on Saturday - priced £3.00

At half time, there will also be a minute's applause at half time as we celebrate the live's of all supporters, staff and players that have sadly died over the season plus the band,The Corp of Drums of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (Lancashire) will also be in attendance.

The programme for Saturday's game is already attracting some interest from keen memorabilia collectors and our best advice is to get here early to get your copy.

The main event of the day though is obviously the game with Torquay United and the Shakers hunt for three vital points.Obviously with the club still in the play off hunt, and the desire to stay there is very strong amongst the coaching staff and players.Supporters have there part to play on Saturday by becoming the twelfth man, atmosphere is very much wanted throughout the game and we urge all supporters to get right behind the lads. The anniversary will be celebrated - but three points on Saturday is far more important.

Following the game there will also be a 125 anniversary part in the social club, some tickets are still available from the club, but be quick as they are selling quite fast.
