Huddersfield Town protégée Joe Skarz has joined the Shakers on a free transfer, signing a two year deal late on Monday afternoon.
A product of the Terriers Youth Academy, Joe made his debut following several impressive performances in Huddersfield's second string side and played at left back in a 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United on 04 November 2006.
Progress was swift for young Joe and soon after then manager Peter Jackson announced that he would be his preferred player in the left back position.Joe was also named as the Football League Apprentice of the year for 2007.Former Bury manager Stan Ternent took over at the Galpharm Stadium soon after and Joe was rewarded with a new three year contract.
His first goal for the Terriers came against Leeds United at Elland Road with Huddersfield winning the game 2-1.Another change in management saw Joe being left out and he joined Hartlepool United on loan in March 2009 where he made seven appearances before returning to Huddersfield.
He reclaimed his starting position for the 2009/10 season but was eventually sent out on loan again to league two rivals Shrewsbury Town.He joined the Salop in January 2010 and stayed with them until the end of the season.
Following a successful medical on Monday afternoon, Joe put pen to appear on the two year deal.
