Centres of Excellence Manager Appointed

The club can confirm that former Burnley, Barnsley & Middlesbrough midfielder has joined the Shakers as its new look Centre of Excellence manager.

With the entire youth setup at Gigg Lane now under the Bury FC Community Trust umbrella, trust General Manager Paul Weller has overseen the appointment of Richard Barker as Youth team Manager last week, and this morning Paul was able to confirm the arrival of Alan Moore as Centre of Excellence manager.

Once described as the 'Ryan Giggs' of the North East, Dublin born Moore started his career at Middlesbrough.A product of their youth system, Alan went on to make 142 appearances, and scored 17 goals before a loan move to Barnsley in 1998.Five appearances in a months loan saw him head back to the Riverside until he joined Burnley in August 2001.

After a total of 84 appearances for the Clarets he returned to his native Ireland and signed for Shelbourne where he had an immediate impact on the team.A player that has gained Champions League experience with the Irish side.Over the next four years he spent time at a further three Irish clubs before being appointed assistant manager at Shamrock Rovers.

Speaking after revealing the news this morning, community trust General Manager Paul Weller said: We are delighted to have secured Alan's services, he has played at a very high level and his knowledge of the game is a great asset to pass on to the future stars of Bury FC.

Alan starts his new role on Monday 19th July.
