Busy two days for Shakers

Posted on: Mon 26 Jul 2010

Bury face promoted neighbours Rochdale at Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening, with the majority of the first team squad in action, whilst a mixed side of youth, squad members and trialists will face Ramsbottom United on Wednesday evening.

Following Dale's promotion last season, the East Lancs Derby game this year takes the form of a pre-season game at Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening, with the Shakers looking to kick on following their 4-0 win over Leeds United last Tuesday evening.

Alan Knill is expected to play a similar side for the visit of Keith Hill's men, with his strongest eleven starting the game.  The gaffer's squad for this game is also expected to feature the same trialists that featured against Leeds United last week.

With the manager looking to firm up his squad later this week, this could potentially be trialist's last chance to impress as they look to nail a contract for the coming season.

Tuesday night's game will be the final pre-season game at Gigg Lane, with Port Vale the next visitors in the npower League Two on 07 August.

The Shakers pre-season comes to a close on Saturday when Southport provides the opposition at Haig Avenue; full details will be available here later in the week.

Wednesday night will see Richie Barker send his youth team to Ramsbottom United for a 7:30pm kick off at the Riverside. The Shakers new head of youth will also see his side bolstered with a few trialists also getting a run out, some may even get a second run out in two days against the Vodkat league side.
