Lenell John-Lewis grabbed his first goal in a Bury shirt for the second string on Tuesday evening, as Shrewsbury Town ran out 3-1 winners.

A mixed side of first team players, youth team scholars and two trialists came face to face with an experienced strong Shrewsbury Town at Radcliffe Borough on Tuesday evening.

With 15 minutes gone the game was looked fairly even at 1-1.Lenell John-Lewis had equalised for Bury with a stunning strike after ten minutes.Shrewsbury had gone in front with a curling drive from Jon Taylor from around 15 yards.

Shrewsbury applied some pressure looking to get back in front with Tom Bradshaw looping a shot over keeper Richie Branagan, only for it to come back into play after crashing off the crossbar.

Some bright defending from the Shakers also had pushed efforts away from the Bury goalmouth as half time approached. With the break literally minutes away, Shrewsbury found the back of the net twice in quick succession.

Harry Honan grabbed the first at the near post from a corner kick, whilst Kris Bright got on the end of a Taylor cross moments later to effectively kill the game.

Andrai Jones and trialist Louis Barnes were both replaced in the game with injuries (Jones head and Barnes thigh).

The second half showed little goalmouth action and the game finished with the same scoreline - an opening 3-1 defeat.
