Mozika signs

Posted on: Thu 19 Aug 2010

International Clearance has arrived at Gigg Lane for French midfielder Damien Mozika.

Damien arrived at Chester City before the start of the 2008/09 season after spending time on trial with the club.  Previously with AS Nancy and CS Louhans-Cuiseaux in his native France.  He made his Chester debut in a 6-0 defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge on 09 August 2008.

Some excellent performances for Chester led to speculation regarding at least four championship clubs keeping an eye on him, but nothing actually materialised.  His first league goal ironically came against Bury in September 2008.

Injuries kept him out of the side for long periods of their campaign and he was eventually released at the end of the season, along with most of the remaining squad.

Damien then vanished from the footballing world and it later appeared that he had been playing in Iran for Tarbiat Yazd FC.  Following his release from Iran at the end of last season, Damien came back to the UK on trial with Bury.

The club have spent the best part of a month in touch with the French FA and the Iranian FA attempting to secure international clearance.  Thankfully that has now been received and the player can now move forward.

He has this afternoon signed a twelve month contract and has taken squad number 19.

Damien now goes straight into the squad for Saturdays game with Northampton Town.
