The Goals Will Come

Posted on: Fri 08 Dec 2006

Glynn Hurst

Striker Glynn Hurst is going through something of a dry patch after his sensational start at Gigg Lane, speaking after Tuesdays game with Walsall, Hursty says that the goals will come

"It was a bit of a choker, there's not really many words that can describe that, we were unfortunate to say the least.  Andy Warrington getting injured played a part in the second goal, if you look where they put the ball, that's where Andy would have got it."

"Credit to Walsall for getting the goals, but at the end of the day they didn't deserve to win the game. There is a positive to come out of the game in that they are the top of the league and we have matched them stride for stride.  I think we were every bit as good as them, they have a lot more experience than us but we will gain that as time goes on."

"We are still a young squad and we just have to take it on board, learn from it and move onto the next game.  This is a league where you can win ten games as quickly as you can lose ten games.  We need a win to get us kick started, and then I really think we will get another run of wins."

"It was a slightly good advert for League Two football, but we wanted some points.  Fair play to Walsall, they are a decent side, but like I said earlier, we did match them and the thing is that we have everything to look forward to.  There just seems to be a recurring theme, maybe we just need to iron out one or two things and be more solid."

"To be fair, we should have been two, three or four nil up.  Clayton Ince made a superb save from Andy Bishop's header and he made one or two decent saves in the first half.  I thought they were very fortunate to get the three points."

"I need a goal to kick start myself, nothing seems to be dropping for me, but I thought I played well tonight and I was maybe unfortunate to be taken off."

"John Danby made a good save from me in the first minute on Saturday, that's life as a striker at the moment; nothing seems to be coming my way.  I think I've had one shot in the last four games.  That's the way it goes, you keep plugging away and working harder."

"The goals will come, they always have done, I just need a chance to come my way.  I was disappointed at coming off after 60 minutes, but at the end of the day that is the gaffer's choice."

"It was a good advert and good luck to Walsall, they are not where they are for no reason.  Both goals came from fantastic deliveries but like I said earlier, I think we were just as good as them.  I didn't really see where they caused us any threats."
