Youth team manager Chris Beech reflects on another good two weeks for the youngsters as their winning streak continues with victories over Oldham Athletic and Port Vale.
"We've had two very good performances in recent weeks, first was a good win over Oldham Athletic, who are currently just above us and top of the table. It was very wet and played on a heavy pitch, but a good game and a good advert for the level we are playing at."
"I was very pleased to beat them 2-1. Our objective is to produce players and again, Domaine Rouse got himself onto the score sheet with two headers. I'm pleased for him because he is working harder and through that hard work, he is now scoring lots and lots of goals."
"The team played well and when we got the ball down and passed it, we were in my opinion, the best team on the day. We played some good football in difficult conditions and Oldham used the counter attack well, but we had the majority of the possession. You're also going to have to need luck in games like this, and as I have said to the players, the higher the intensity of the opposition, then the closer the game will be and the closer the outcome of the game will be."
"We scored two good goals and conceded one through a bit of a misunderstanding. As a coach, I set weekly targets, monthly targets and individual targets and also within the team structure. There is a possibility of overtaking Oldham to win the league, but they have a very strong youth setup. I'd love to win the league in what would be my first full season as the youth coach. When I took over they were the bottom of the league, now we are at the top and it's a great advert for what I try to advocate within what we do, and it's a great advert for the lads themselves."
"Winning the league is not the be all and end all, but of course we want to do that and it would be the topping on the cake. At the end of the day, nobody will remember the Bury team that win the youth league, it's about player development and people may remember that one player that comes through the system and does well for the first team. It helps us become a better team here or eventually he gets sold and makes the club some money."
"I'd like the club to look at the structure of what we do here where some of that money is filtered back to the youth setup and back to where the talent has been produced, in terms of developing and improving the facilities we have."
"Tom Clarkson is doing well since he broke his leg, he is a great character and a good lad to have around. Hopefully he will be getting rid of his crutches this week.Tom will just get on with it, it's all he can do."
"We got another good result at Port Vale on Saturday and in our last to visits there we have scored nine goals after putting six past them last year and then another three on Saturday. We got the ball down and did what we do well by getting it wide and attacking, we played interchangeable football and the result was the end product. Again Domaine was amongst the goals, but other performances recently from people who don't necessarily get on the score sheet, players such as Kane Bentley sitting in midfield and Jordan Stepien up front. Jack Dorney has been magnificent over the last three games. He is so technically gifted for a first year scholar."
