We haven't backed up the start
"The goals we conceded were disappointing, we got back in it with fifteen minutes to go, plus we had a good one v one with Andy Mangan and Colin Woodthorpe got a great goal with the header. We were the better team going into that stage of the game, but we conceded two poor goals."
"Andy Mangan brought a new energy to the team when he came on and he gave us a different outlook to our game with his pace and his direct running. He could have scored with his first touch and we've had a few good one v one's in the last couple of weeks and we've failed to convert them. Tonight Jack Lester had one and he stuck the ball into the back of the net, that's probably the difference."
"We haven't built on the start we made at MK Dons, we haven't backed it up with anything. We've had some decent performances and it was a bit scrappy here at Chesterfield, but we said at half time that we were still in the game. We got the goal back through Colin and you think in the last fifteen minutes, if we can keep it tight we could have taken a point, and that would have been a decent result here. We set out for all three, but sometimes you can't always win everything and to concede the last two goals was very disappointing."
"We've conceded too many goals and we've switched off, you can go through things and things and things, but if a player is going to switch off there is only so much you can do. You have to change things around until players become mentally sharp even when the ball is off the pitch. When you come to a place like Chesterfield and they use the multi ball system, then you have to be on your guard all the time."
"I thought Brian Barry-Murphy was very good and Paul Scott was again excellent. He worked his socks off, he won his tackles and he won his headers, but we didn't retain enough possession up front and ultimately we were on the back foot, it wasn't for long periods of the game, but it was more than we should have been."
"There is always pressure there and everyone is under pressure. The lads know we needed to get a result and get a result quickly. It's similar to last year and now we have to show some strength and character and we have to come back and bounce back. The disappointing thing for me is that I have players in the dressing room that should be getting results, but they are letting themselves down by switching off at vital times such as throw ins, a throw in comes far too easily. We spoke about how dangerous Steve Fletcher is from crosses, tonight we didn't deal with the crosses."
"There is only so much you can do, the lads have to go out there and put into play what they do in the practice and so far there has been a few too many times where that's not happened, and that's why I changed things around a little bit tonight. I will continue to do that, and as I've said, there is only so much that you can do."
