Best result as a manager

Posted on: Sat 03 Nov 2007

"That was a really good solid performance from every single one of them and it was good for Jim Provett to get the clean sheet.  It was fully deserved and I think Jim will be the first to admit to taking the three points before a clean sheet, but to get the three points and a clean sheet is a real bonus for us."

"I said at half time that if they get the next goal, then we had to respond to it - like we always do, but let's make sure that it's us that get the second goal and we did that with another good finish from Nicky Adams, plus he could have had one just after that and overall a really good solid performance from everybody."

"Nicky Adams has made his own headlines, and that's what strikers are all about.  They get the goals and they get the credit but I thought every single one of them put in great performances and the two lads that came in did ever so well."

"We were served with a bit of a swerve ball yesterday when Paul Morgan got a mysterious injury from nowhere, but he was in an awful lot of pain and he was really struggling, so we had to juggle things around and I just thought Andy Parrish could come in there as well as David Buchanan and do the jobs."

"We will have to give Morgs 48 hours, but it's a strange one.  He wasn't really doing anything, he seized up and his back went into spasm.  It was a real swerve ball but it gives us competition for places because we have a strong squad now."

"The lads know there is competition in there and they have to keep performing to keep their place. The results and the performances are speaking for themselves."

"Nicky's best position is anywhere in the final third of the pitch, people can't get near him, but also he's added that extra maturity to his game.  His ball for the first goal was fabulous and it was as good a goal as you are going to see.  He also took his second goal very well and showed a lot of confidence and composure.  It was an all round good display from Nicky.  Andy Mangan probably deserved a goal for his performance as well."

"Barnet were undefeated since August and I said before the game that it was always going to be one of those games where both teams were full of form and going into today's game with good results.  We had to be the ones coming at the other end with the form intact, but fair play to Barnet, they have some very good players, we didn't underestimate them, but we also knew that we were in decent form and it showed today where we put them under pressure."

"I don't think the score line flatters us but people will look at that and think Barnet are a good team and its one heck of a good result to come away with.  We are taking this one game at a time because if you get too carried away with it and you start believing your own hype and the teams' hype, then you can get too carried away."

"This is my best result as a manager, there's no question about that after the overall performance. It's been a really good squad effort from the lads, myself, Brassy, Dave Horrocks and Keith Alexander. They've been magnificent for me.The positive mentality was not to sit back on a 1-0 lead, but to try and score more goals."
