Keep a clean sheet
"The ability to keep a clean sheet is probably my biggest frustration at the moment. Every game so far we have had to come from behind. We're not going to be able to do that in every game. Darlington was a big one, we gave them two goals and we nearly got something out of it, but the better teams defend well. We didn't and we lost 2-1 at home. We need to stop the goals and also set pieces. In the six games I've been here, we've given away two penalties and three goals from corners. There are things that we need to stop happening."
"After the Darlington game I said that we will take the positives from the game and move them into the next game. You can't forget about the negatives though, you can't paper over the cracks, and there are some cracks, that's why we are fifth from bottom. The important thing is that you realise what they are and you try to fix them. Sometimes time isn't on your side and you go from one game straight into the other, so you don't have any time on the training ground. All you can do is talk about things and hope the players take it on, but we are pretty quick to point out what our frailties are."
"We still haven't really had a full week on the training ground. We could have had one last week but half of it was ice and the second half was wind. We've not had it yet and I don't think we get one till after the Rotherham game."
"People tell me Darren Randolph earnt his wages on Tuesday. That's what he is paid for. Nobody mentions the centre half when he heads the ball clear. The goalkeeper is paid to save the ball, that's why he is there, but I was pleased for him because he did play particularly well and by his own admission, he hasn't played well before. He has made some mistakes, but he did do well on Tuesday, but he needed to, he needed to put it right."
"The biggest positive to come from Tuesday night was that we didn't lose, but again, we were 1-0 down and had to come back and score. We probably could have snatched it at the end.Within the game, and this could probably tell you how the game went, but their goal keeper was man of the match. I also had some people at the game whose opinions that I value and they all said that we were by far the better team on the night, but the better team usually wins. I've said this before now, if you can't win, you have to take something from it. They were four points behind us and we came away with the same, then I will take it."
"Extending Elliott Bennett's loan for another month was an easy decision to make. He's been the best and most consistent player since I have been here. He's another that is a really good worker with a really good work ethic. Only this morning when he came in, he's not involved in our weights group, yet he was in early this morning saying that he wanted to join in. He wants to do better and he knows that it will make him better."
"Its six games now and we've taken eight points. That's eight points more than we probably took in the previous two months. The only problem with that is that most teams around us have taken eight points as well. If you take eight points every month, then usually you are around the play offs. It's been a pretty good month, we have to do better next month, if we do, I'll be delighted."
