Good teams don't lose two on the trot
"Last weekend Barnet were a good side, I thought they should have scored in the first half, but so should we have and I think I said at half time that whoever scored the first goal would go on and win it. Unfortunately for us we gave away a poor goal and they went on to win the game."
"I didn't expect us to lose by three goals though and I was really disappointed to lose by three goals and it was the first time that we didn't compete in the second half. They had a bit of movement and they hurt us, the first goal we missed two tackles. There was a chance to tackle the lad and we missed him, the second we have a chance to clear it and don't. At 0-2 we were struggling and ended up going four up front, that always leaves you open and in the end your happy to come away with three because I thought they could score."
"It's disappointing but considering the run that we've been on and the amount of effort the players have put in. Obviously I don't want to lose, we talked after the game and a few words were said by myself and the players and hopefully we will see a reaction on Saturday."
"The second half performance was more disappointing to me than the result, it just looked like we never came out and it was almost holiday mode that we'd done what we needed to do, we've got to the target that will keep us in the league."
"It's a massive concern for me that they don't think they are on the beach with their flip flops on. We have to try and instil in them that the last few games are important and really it is down to them. You get to that point where you just take a big breather. We got to that and hopefully that was our reaction. That's what we did, we took a breather and now we are ready to go again."
"There's not much right that you can put right, it's not tactical or anything like that, it's just the application. We weren't undone by great set pieces or anything great. It was just poor defending and poor application. The desire and the will to win that we have had, we never had it in the second half. They were better than us in the second half by far, and I hope it doesn't happen again."
"Steve Haslam has trained this week, Andy Parrish trained today. Paul Morgan and Dave Challinor haven't trained this week, BBM hasn't trained this week as he is feeling his thigh, but we will have a look at him today. Andy Mangan has trained with the first team this week and is looking ok."
"I think Morgan, Challinor and Yeo are out for the season now. I don't think Chally will be back before the end of the season. I don't know if Yeo will be back in time to get in the team and they probably won't take any part in it now until after the end of the season. Morg's keeps getting back fit and then gets injured again so it's kind of difficult."
"Macclesfield have done well to get out of trouble, though they are not mathematically safe yet, but you would probably think that they are safe. Keith Alexander has gone in and done a decent job. He does what he does. He's gone in there and made them solid. They have sprinted out of it, but clawed their way out of it. They will be a tough team to play against."
"Sodje want here with Keith, Rooney and Bennet wasn't here, so Keith won't know that much about us. We may not be playing the same shape that Keith played here and the players are playing differently. Usually you know about the opposition anyway. I know all about Macclesfield and how they will play and Keith will know all about us and the way we play."
"We have to motivate the lads, but a lot of it we have to rely on them. I do my best but once they get on the pitch, there really is nothing I can do. All I can do is give them the information that they need for the game and the game plan and hopefully they carry it out.I don't ask them to try, I expect it. They get paid for it so I expect them to try."
"We are the home team and we are looking for five home wins on the trot. I don't see why we can't; hopefully last weekend was just a blip. We have done really well and just took our foot off the gas for 45 minutes and got punished. When you listen to the players, I think they are up for it because they know Keith."
"I want a reaction; good teams don't lose two on the trot. Good teams lose and then come back. If they can't win, then they don't lose the next one. Since I've been here, we haven't lost two on the trot, so that's the target - stop losing."
