"I've mentioned before that I'd like to bring Darren Randolph and Elliott Bennett back to the club next season.  With Darren he came here and proved himself at this level and I think that he and his agent are looking to prove themselves at a higher level.  Elliott is a touch different; he is younger and is still learning his trade.  He enjoyed his time here and I felt that he got better.  I'm more positive with Elliott.  You never know, all you can do is keep asking and keep asking and you hope that you bore them into submission."

"I believe Efe Sodje is one of the players that Gillingham are trying to shift.  I don't know how they are going to shift them because most of their players are under contract.  Obviously we have made it clear that we are interested in Efe and Efe has made it clear that he would like to come here, but in-between that there is a years contract, so at the moment, its between Efe, his agent and Gillingham and how they sort out that years contract, and then we will obviously talk to Efe."

"The assistant manager's job is ongoing but the good thing is that I have spoken to three people now and all three of them want to come.  I'm in a bit of a dilemma now because I can't have three assistant managers.  It's just a case now of narrowing it down.  All three of them are really decent; they have the same work ethic that I have.  They know this league which is the most important for me and they know what it takes to make players better and to really know what to do in the football club.  There are three of them, before I had none, now I have three.  It's a dilemma!!  Its taken some time but hopefully we can do that as soon as possible now."

"I believe there is some progress on the training ground.  We've been given permission to fence off the pitch on Lower Gigg and make ours, which is just as well because apparently somebody has been driving their car across it.  I don't know too much, but all I have said is that I want it done and I expect it to be done.  I don't care how, so I just expect it to be done because it's really important."

"There are no more pre-season games to come.  The three big ones are good games for us.  The Huddersfield game is good for both, they have a new manager and a person that means a lot to the people around this club in Stan Ternent, obviously Ronnie Jepson is there as well and it's a good game for us."

"Obviously with the two Sheffield clubs with Blackie and Sam, who were both here, coming back to Gigg Lane and then Sheffield Wednesday.  All are big clubs and are good games for us.  We would have liked Premier league clubs, but you can't always get them because they go away these days, so I am happy with what we've got.  We finish with what I think is a team that is more like our league, so that was the reasoning behind Northwich.  We can't play anyone on our league and they are similar."

"I think that it is important that the game before the season starts, a lot of teams play bigger teams, it's no reflection on what they are playing the week after, so even though its not a glamour game, it's a real good game for us and it will be something like what we are expecting the week after."

"We are on track, I'd like a squad of 20 all signed up - I'd love that, but I am realistic to know that that isn't how it works.  I'd like to think that by the end of this month that we will be pretty close to that.  We might have to add one or two in July, but I don't want to be adding seven or eight.  I want it all done in May then I can have June as a bit of a holiday."

"Come the 1st of July the squad will be there, or we know that at least the majority of the squad is there and we know that one or two will be coming.  I don't want pre-season to start like I had a Rotherham with eight players."
