"Jordan Stepien was out on loan when I came in, so you could say it was unfortunate.  I haven't seem him play, and when he did come back he was injured, You can also sat he wasn't unfortunate because after asking quite a few people that work at that level and fortunately I do know quite a few people that do work at that level, I asked them if he would play for me at this level next year.  The answer was no and with the budget we have and how tight it is, whoever is going to be here next season has to be close to the team and pushing somebody in the team.  We all felt that Jordan would not be doing that so I had no real choice."

"I said it last week, I am looking for better.  It's unfortunate, if I had a bigger budget, then yes we would have probably kept him for a year or maybe two years to let him develop, but I just can't afford to do that.  It's unfortunate for Jordan, but as I said about Andy Parrish, you bring them back and they don't play, they will only get frustrated so I felt that it was best for him to go and play elsewhere.  Hopefully he does well where ever he goes."

"The six that have been offered new deals, we have had some feedback and to be fair, it's pretty positive.  David Buchanan was in today and he is still considering his offer.  We had a good chat about it and he seemed to be pretty positive about it.  Nicky Adams was in yesterday and it's the same with him.  Brian Barry-Murphy phoned me from wherever he is on holiday and he seemed pretty positive.  There's one or two bits and pieces to iron out, but we are definitely getting there."

"I don't want to go down the road of withdrawing an offer, but whilst they are waiting and deciding, the list of players that we have are being talked to by other clubs.  There does come a time when you have to say that enough is enough, make a decision now or we will look elsewhere.  To be fair, they understand that as well.  I don't really want to do it, but if I have to - I will."

"I've been all over the country this last few weeks talking to players and there are players coming in.  Things are looking good.  I did a deal for one last night (Wednesday) and it's pretty good for us.  The contract isn't signed yet.  He's gone away today to think about it and he's a goalkeeper, so hopefully we have the deal done.  I hope we are still on target to get the majority of them done before the end of this month.  I go away next Thursday and I hope it will all be done by then."

"I mentioned some weeks ago that I knew which players would be leaving before I came in here, I didn't know what players to bring in before I came in though.  I've gone with a certain criteria and I want players that know about this league.  I don't want players that come in here and it appears to be a shock to them, so they should have had some experience at this level.  You identify which players you'd like and I've spoken to two players that I have liked for a long time, and I've had some pretty positive feedback from them.  One of them, I think I've signed.  Fingers crossed, its going all right, for some reason they believe what I say.  They see what we did last season, the finish we had wasn't a fluke, and we did well by playing the right way."

"I kind of let them have the freedom to play and a lot of people have seen that and taken notice of that, that's why it was so crucial to finish the season so well, because when you are talking to players, you come from a different position.  It's more of a position of strength then if we had just scraped it and stayed up."

"The players coming in are experienced.  I already have kids, I don't need to go and look for any, but there is a certain age of player that I like and if I can get them within that age, with one eye on bringing them in and then I feel that I can sell them on.  If I sign one, I can make him better then sell him.  It's always the case; you bring them in, make them better and sell them on.  For the club firstly and for me, I've done it before.  I've made a million pounds for a club before now and I'd like to do it again."

Please note, it is the clubs policy to not reveal details of new signings until there is ink on a contract.  Once a contract is signed, then full details will be revealed.
