"Wayne Brown is a great signing for us, and to be honest, it did come as a bit of a surprise.  I got a phone call asking me if I would be interested in Wayne Brown and obviously we needed a goalkeeper, the answer was yes definitely.  I've always liked him, he's a steady keeper and you know what you are getting, his record last season was one of the best in the league with 21 clean sheets, and if he can do the same for us next season, then it will be excellent."

"I think it's a real coup for us.  You look through the league and pick the goalkeepers out; Wayne will probably be in the top five.  He's just been promoted but he's come back to League Two.  I don't know how I've done it; I just told him the truth about what we are trying to do.  I know he was impressed with the way we played against him last season.  He understands and like what we are trying to do here.  He wants to be a part of it. It's really good for us that we can attract a player like Wayne Brown. All of a sudden people will be saying, why is he going to Bury?"

"We know why he's coming, it's because he is ambitious as we are or as I am and the rest of the squad is.  That's why he is here and I am absolutely delighted."

"Going for Darren Randolph is now dead.  I won't need Darren now and to be fair, Darren wants to go and play at a higher level so good luck to him.  I will keep in touch with him though to see how he is doing, but we've signed Wayne Brown now."

"Wayne was the good news; Dale Stephens leaving is the bad news.  I got the news that he wasn't going to take his offer the morning I went away.  I tried to get in touch with him but couldn't get hold of him; I finally managed to get him and asked him to come in so that we could talk about it.  His last words to me were that he wanted to go and play somewhere. My last words to him were 'you will play a lot more next season."

"Then all of a sudden we receive confirmation that he won't be signing, no matter what and he doesn't want any more offers, then all of a sudden he is going to sign for Oldham.  It annoys me because you just want somebody to be truthful.  I felt as though I was truthful with him. I feel that all along he has probably known.  Why didn't he just come and say so.  With the greatest respect to Dale, I can't see him playing 46 games for Oldham, maybe in their reserves yes, but not for Oldham's first team.   For me it's a pretty lame excuse.  What can you do!  You just move on and that's what we have done.  We will take Oldham's money and invest it in somebody that we think will be better than Dale."

"As for the others, Cameron Belford is away on holiday.  We have been speaking and I don't think it will be a problem.  I spoke to Hursty in-between him coming back from his holiday and me going away last week.  It's pretty good with him, he knows where I am coming from and I certainly know where Hursty is coming from and hopefully we can sort something out before they all come back.  I don't think Hursty wants to leave and I don't want him to.  There is still some sort of negotiations to go on and I don't foresee that being a real problem.  He has a big role to play, both on the pitch and off the pitch.  I like him as a person, I like what he does and he adds to the squad.  Hopefully we will be ok."

"Dave Buchanan has agreed and he is away on holiday, I got a text of him saying that he will sign as soon as he comes back, as long as he doesn't go and sign for anyone in Puerto Rico whilst he's away.  Nicky Adams is still ongoing.  That's as much as we can say really, it's ongoing, but as I have explained to Nicky, I am speaking to other players as we speak now.  I spoke to someone this week and I am speaking to someone next week and they both play in Nicky's position, so what will be will be.  We are trying to track Murph's agent down.  I've spoken to Murph and he seems ok with what we are trying to do, but it's just trying to track the agent down to finalise it."

"I've agreed terms with another midfield player.  Obviously we needed one as soon as we knew that Dale was definitely out.  I had to speak with one and I've agreed terms with him.  He's away at the moment and that will be sorted as soon as he comes back.  I've also spoken to two strikers because I think we need four."

"I have an assistant manager, he's been offered the job and there are just a few legalities to sort out with where he is at the moment, but hopefully that will be sorted out next week."
