"I would have liked everything all done by now, but it more or less is all sorted. Sometimes people get frustrated because they don't see names, but I think we're all pretty secure in what we're doing and hopefully by Monday we will have a better idea of who's in and who's not."

"Agents can be a problem in this; they have their own idea of what the players should get which is sometimes unrealistic, so it can be quite difficult but we are trying really hard to resolve the little things. And it really is little things because most of the deals we have done with the players they have agreed it's just the incidentals."

"Monday will be busy in the press office, I have spoken to the centre half and done the deal for the centre half, done the deal for the midfield and its just over the weekend we will sort the other bits out so that hopefully either Monday or Tuesday they will put pen to paper."

"The striker is ongoing, but we're close, that's nearly all sorted."

"The Nicky Adams situation is ongoing also, there are a few problems with it but there are always problems when you're trying to negotiate or re-negotiate. The good thing is the others have all decided.I spoke to Barry Murphy whilst I was away and he said he wanted to stay, he's had offers from other clubs but wants to stay here so we're delighted."

"There has been a lot of progress around the club, the fencing is here, but we wont use Lower Gigg for a month so I'm not to worried about that as we can train down at Goshen, but the good thing is that its here. Also, the gym looks fantastic, the lads had been working on my office whilst I went away and I wasn't expecting the gym to be finished but it is so a big thank you to them."

"I was all set a month ago, I knew what I was doing, and it was just a case of finalising what we're going to do and how we're going to do it. I've probably done about ten pre-seasons so I'm kind of used to it now. Firstly we will probably just get to know everybody and do the usual: take them out, have a bit of a run and a jog. By Wednesday we will do some testing make sure they're fit and then really straight into it. It's different now then when I was a player, when you didn't see the ball for two weeks but I'm a big believer that if you're training to play football so might as well give them the football.'Give them a bit of a run and a jog'".

"Brentford at home is the first game, if you look through the league and see what has gone on through the Summer it looks quite open, some clubs have forked some big money, if you look at Shrewsbury, they have paid £170,000/£180,000 which is a lot in this league and I know others that are paying big wages for players, but I believe it is a pretty open league, its not where you just look at one team or look at two teams like it was last year, I wouldn't say we're all pretty much the same but I don't think there are any whose wage bills are double or treble to anyone else."

" Burnley in the cup is good so hopefully a big crowd as their supporters will come and watch and of course ours will. "
