Full of praise
"Efe Sodje will sign tomorrow. It's been a long time trying to get him here, but obviously I'm delighted. He was a big influence when he came last year and the crowd liked him, on and off the pitch and the players liked him, we are just delighted that we have someone of his stature coming to us. It has been pretty difficult to try and get him out of Gillingham but with his agent and Sodje himself, we've done it and he's coming here."
"If you look around the league, you see players of his ilk. Everybody is trying to get one of those and I think he proved that. He came in last year and he was aggressive. Everybody that played against him knows that they've been in a game. I'm delighted and the biggest thing for me is that he decided to come here because he enjoyed it so much that he wanted to come here."
"I've offered him a role as a player coach. Efe wants to do coaching so he'll come firstly as a player, but we will teach him to be a coach. We are bringing him to lengthen his career, if not as a player, but to lengthen it eventually as a coach and I think that's what really brought him here."
"He adds to the team, it's massive and he was really the main one that I wanted to sign and it has been going on such a long time. It's been on then it's been off, other things have got in the way, but we kept chipping away and eventually it's done, or it will be on Thursday. He said he's signing and that's done for me."
"Nicky Adams has gone to Leicester and I'm obviously disappointed that he's gone, but I got on really well with him. He phoned me after he had agreed there and said thank you. You have to wish him luck, he's a really good lad and I've really enjoyed working with Nicky."
"We both had the same idea that if he was going to go, then he had to go to someone better or someone higher so it's tested him. There was all the talk about Rochdale, and they did make enquiries, and even though they had a good season last year, I felt that it would have been a sideways step. If he is going to go anywhere at his age, he has to go up the leagues, not sideways. I'm absolutely delighted for him and I honestly wish him all the best. He's a real character and the biggest thing is he surprised me from day one."
"When I first got here, he didn't play in the first game, after that I got him in and asked him where he wanted to play, and what's your best position and what can we do to make you better. He said left wing, so we played him on the left wing. I think he's found his position now whereas before he had a free role, which is no real position. He's going to be a left winger and try to be as good as he can be in that position. I'm disappointed that he's gone, but I wish him all the best. You can't stand in a player's way. He gave us good service last year."
"It's good for Nicky and potentially good for us financially. If you have to deal with a club then you want to deal with a big club. It looks as though it will go to tribunal and we think we have a good case. We've turned down offers from other clubs because we felt that at tribunal we would have a better case so we will wait and see. I wish him all the best and I will definitely keep in touch with him to make sure he is ok, he's a really good lad."
"It's good to have the lads back and getting into it. Wednesday's session will be a little more strenuous than Tuesdays, but not too much. I'm itching to get going, I can't wait top get the footballs out, I'm bored out of my mind and I get irritable. Its one of those things because you have so much going on, you want to get in and start doing things. I'm glad it's come and if we can I want a few more players in. We have two trialists in and we will have a look at them, then hopefully we will have a few more in within the next couple of weeks."
