Our performances are getting better
"We lost our shape badly last weekend, but you have to give credit to Aldershot because they came back and scored three goals very quickly. They were dead and buried but they came back very well and looked stronger."
"We took a lot of positives from last weekend, people say despite the result, but it's still a good draw, but it still feels like a defeat. Their manager said that nobody had done what we did to them in two years. There are plenty of positives to take out of the game, but it was a pretty big negative to be 3-0 in the lead away from home, we should have won that game."
"We are still undefeated and again, you have to credit the players for that. It's fantastic and we've had some tough games such as Wycombe here, Aldershot away and then Stockport. It's been pretty tough and it will only get tougher. I think they are ready for it, they like what's happening here so hopefully we can keep that going."
"They like the pressure of being at the top, it seems to be that way. Whilst it has been a great start, our performances are getting better, certainly football wise. We played pretty well against Aldershot, played some decent stuff against Wycombe - both strong teams, and then on Tuesday against Stockport, I thought we played really well."
"I made two changes on Tuesday night, both Dawson and Sodje are on four yellows (Sodje received a yellow card in pre-season) so we didn't want to risk them. Also, the players that have been around the squad deserved to play, they've been excellent in the reserves and in training. They deserved to play, it wasn't really a gamble because I know exactly what Cresswell and Baker can do, and we all saw that on Tuesday night."
"They haven't given me a dilemma for Saturday. It's not that difficult, the team is unbeaten in nine and that team has done pretty well, you don't really want to change it. What it does say to me is that they are ready and it's a message to the players that already have the shirts, that if their form drops, we have players that are capable and ready to take the shirt."
"I am taking the JPT seriously, I think you have to. It's a really difficult one because the cup itself isn't a real money earner for the club until you get to the later stages - the area final and the final, but if you do get there, then you can make some money from it and we obviously need some money. We took it seriously and so did Stockport. It just helps, we are on a good run so we might as well keep that going, the more you can win, the more the confidence raises."
"Exeter are exactly the same as Aldershot, just been promoted and doing very well. They have a good team spirit and a momentum. Paul Tisdale has made some changes and brought in Marcus Stewart, who is a good player, they look dangerous and at the moment they are free scoring with four away at Macclesfield, three last Saturday against Gillingham, it will be a tough game."
"The key word is momentum, two play off finals for them, and they came up last year and are doing well. The teams that went up from this league are doing well in League One. There's probably only Hereford that have found it difficult, plus Exeter come here with a touch of the unknown quantity about them, but I am fortunate to have Chris Wilder here and he's played against them many times with Halifax so he gives me a knowledge of them. Both teams that have come up are surprising quite a few people plus they are both playing a good brand of football. Aldershot passed the ball and got forward and it will be the same with Exeter."
"The game is the tenth of the season, and usually you get a good idea of where the teams are. I'm sure it doesn't matter what happens on Saturday, we will still be pretty well placed and probably where we want to be and where we think we can be. The hard part now is just staying there."
