Another tough game
"November was a good month for us with three wins from four, the two cup defeats take the gloss off a little but we can't do anything about that now. The only things that we can do to put it right is what we did against Gillingham and then Grimsby. Its nine points out of twelve and I'm delighted with that."
"In last week's game, we changed the shape, I thought Paul Mullin was causing us some problems so we told Ryan Cresswell to get on and just to sit in there and stop him from getting the ball, and he did that quite well. They then went and changed their shape and made it a bit difficult. It is negative, but sometimes you've just got to win the game. We don't want it to be negative because you want your players going forward. I thought we won the game pretty comfortably in the end without too many scares."
"We've not been off track in recent games. Somewhere along the lines you do get disappointments and October was a disappointing month for us. The belief was always there and the good thing was that the performance was always there. We were playing pretty well and it was silly mistakes that were costing us, where as in November, it hasn't. At the other end, we've taken our chances."
"We've not had many goals from midfield this season, and to be fair, it's the way we play. We don't ask the midfield players to get past the strikers or to run all over the pitch. We ask them to keep the shape. I don't see that as part of their game. I see their game as stopping the opposition, breaking play up and moving the ball around the pitch. I don't ask them to score goals, but when they do, obviously I'm delighted. Their main job is to keep the shape for us."
"Three weeks ago I described us as bad in both boxes, now it's not bad. Its better. It helps when you have time to work with them and we've been able to do that. The players have put a lot of work into what we weren't doing well, and we've done ok since then but we know we can get better."
"Our lowest league position so far this season is 9th, and that's pretty good. That was the aim. My brief when I came in was to make it better and that's what we are trying to do. If we finish in 9th position, then it is still better than last season. If we can continue how we are, then we will be up there and we will be above 9th. It's important that you don't get carried away with everything and start thinking of promotion or play offs. We take it a month at a time or a week at a time. It's the next game; we have to look and see what we do in the next game and then see where that takes you. We've done that pretty well especially after only taking four points in October. The target is 'be better'; it's always been the target."
"Sometimes it's pretty dangerous to go from being pretty poor to outstanding in a season. Usually there is a knock back coming somewhere. The idea is to build slowly, put some foundations in and realise why we are in this position, try to stay in this position and concentrate on why we are there. This only comes down to one thing, and that's hard work. If you don't put the hard work in, you don't get anything. At the moment, the players are working really hard and deserve to be 6th in the table. It's better than what I expected."
"Macclesfield are strong and physical. If you don't stand upto that, then usually you get rolled over. I've seen them twice last week and we had them watched on Tuesday. Even though they lost 4-0 on Tuesday, they are a decent team and they were in the game, plus they are on a really good run as well. This will be a tough game, and it's a little like last weekend at Accrington. If you are not careful, the actual place can win and beat you. It's not like you are going to Bradford and you have to be strong mentally. So far we have been good at such places so hopefully we will be the same on Saturday."
"There's the weather as well. We want the game on and I'm sure Macclesfield want the game on. We think it's an opportunity for us to go there and win the game and they will think exactly the same. Keith will want to put Tuesday night right and they will think it's a blip. Both teams will want the game on; I know that we certainly do."
