We are a progressive club
"We've got over Sunday quickly. I've had some good people ring me and said how well we have played and the style that we have played with. We have to take the positives out of it though it was pretty difficulty at the time."
"We had already started on next season before Sunday's game, the planning had started and it didn't matter what division we were going into. We are talking to certain players and that will carry on this week."
"The retained list is out later today and it is a small one, we have a small squad to start with anyway. The good thing is that there will be no whole sale changes to the squad. We know that this squad can compete. We will be keeping the majority and hopefully adding some more quality to the squad that will help us next season."
"The summer will see carnage with players being released. It's going to be unbelievable and many people will be surprised with the quality that will be available. Instead of money, players are now looking at length of contract. We are looking around but I have to say that we have already identified targets and are speaking to them."
"I'd like to know in the next week to a week and a half, get it sorted and then I can just think about coming back for pre-season, but it usually doesn't work like that. Usually it's not until we are back that the squad comes together and I am expecting no different this year."
"For us, it's not about Money. This is Bury, but don't get me wrong, we do pay pretty good money compared to what we've paid in the past. It's like everything, if you want good players; you have to pay for that. I always sell it that if they are going to come here; they are going to get better. They are not going to get worse. If a player wants to be better then we will give them every opportunity to be better."
"It is an easier sell than last year, plus I've also had a couple of players ring me because they have seen how we play and seen what we are trying to do. They want to be a part of that and it does help."
"People can speculate all they want on who is coming in, I'm never going to say yes or no.There are players that I have admired and wanted and that will add to the squad. Some are available now, but usually there are quite a few clubs after those players as well. There are no bargains anymore."
"I always try to keep a little bit back just in case a player becomes available later. Michael Jones is an example of that, Danny Racchi is another. They both came from nowhere. The idea is to try and sign the majority of the squad now, and then we might pick up two or three in the summer that might surprise us again."
"Also, after such a good season, it wouldn't surprise me if other clubs started looking at our players. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody comes in over the summer for one or two of our players."
"Agents are also going to have to be a lot more realistic because of the climate as well. The money is just not there unless you really are somebody. If you're a Grant Holt or a Jack Lester, then you can command because you are guaranteed goals. People will always pay for goals. Money is pretty tight all over, it doesn't matter which club, and it's pretty tight."
"We are ok at the moment, we've had a good season and our crowds are up. The club sponsor has committed to us again and it's good that the council has taken us on board. What we have done in a relatively short time is fantastic. The biggest achievement is that there is now an interest in this football club from the town, whereas there wasn't when I walked in."
"When I came, we had 2,000 supporters that would have been here no matter what, they are always here, they are the main stay we've had two seven and a half thousand crowds, five and half thousand the week before - there is a real interest in this football club. Now it's about keeping them."
