Back to work on Monday
"Danny Racchi came in on Wednesday and signed his contract. Cameron Belford will sign his on Monday when they get back for pre-season, but everything has been agreed and we are obviously delighted with it."
"I read in the press that we have offered two contracts to two wingers, I think that one got a little bit mixed up. I've been talking to some wingers but we've not offered anything to them, but I am seeing a winger this afternoon, and just to clarify it - I won't be offering him a contract, its just a meeting at this stage."
""The Carling Cup draw is fantastic for us with a game against West Bromwich Albion. Hopefully we will beat Bournemouth and then go into a big cup game. It just keeps the momentum that we had at the end of last season going, plus as well it's live on Sky. We haven't had a live game, apart from the play offs, for a long time. It's just good that we are getting a little bit of publicity, so hopefully we can beat West Brom and draw somebody else."
"The big thing for us though is the Sky TV money. Last year we had a great game against Burnley and they went on to do great things in that cup, you want to get further and make some money for the football club. It's an opportunity for us."
"My biggest disappointment from last season is that we didn't do well in the cups last season. For Burnley, I said after the game that I fancy them to be in the top six and everyone laughed, but I thought they had some players there and obviously they have a good manager. What happened next we already know."
"The fixtures are out and obviously I look at the start.I want to be at home first and its six or seven games together. I always look at it as a group of games, maybe six games at a time and look at the season like that. It will be tough, but they are always tough. You look at some of the players that have been signed and some of the money that has been thrown around. I think there will be quite a few clubs that you don't expect up there this season."
"I know what we have to get, I know that if we work on what we had last season and what we are trying to get and trying to achieve to get us to the play offs. We just need a couple more to get us into those automatic places. I'm not really a target person. You set out and have a good month, then a bad month and it messes everything up. I have my own personal targets but I don't really share that with anyone, otherwise you get disappointed easily."
"We saw last year, we had a good couple of months then a poor October before it changed. Then we had a relatively bad December before it changed again. The success we had last year will make this season more difficult for us. I shouted all the way through the season that we were the surprise package - I can't do that this year because we are not the surprise anymore. I have more or less the same two, we've added two quality strikers and hopefully we will add some more quality. We finished fourth last season, this year the expectation will be higher and we have to finish better than fourth."
"It all starts again on Monday when the lads return for pre-season training. We've seen a few of them coming in over the summer and they all look fit. Andy Bishop does look fit, he's probably looking as fit as I've ever seen him. It's a big season for everybody. There are quite a few players that last year were not out of contract, but they are this year. I'm hoping that they come back with the same attitude and they are looking to get another contract here."
"There will be no balls out on Monday, Brassy and I have cycled to Heaton Park to look at a route for Monday… We will break them in easily on the first day but this game against Everton has been thrown in and has messed up our planning a little, but the balls will be out on the second day."
"Bish has said that he is fit and raring to go, and after seeing him and talking to him, I'd have to agree with him. He's been in all summer with the physio and he has done lots of work, but the biggest thing for me - he's moved his family to Bury. He's moved over, he's settled in Bury, he's got married over the summer and he just looks comfortable with the environment that he is in, hopefully that will show in his performances."
"We have a handful of trialists coming in on Monday and I don't know if we will have the same quality as we had last year. It's always hit and misses with trialists. Last year we were pretty lucky with Danny Racchi and Mike Jones. You never know some of them we have seen and some we have been recommended."
"We may also take a loan from a higher division club, for either six months of the full season. It all depends on the club, but we are trying to take a loan player. We think we may already have the next Elliott Bennett, he's called Danny Racchi - we will have to wait and see."
