"It's always difficult when you're playing against opposition that are desperate to beat you and they really want to win, but I thought in the end that it was pretty comfortable - especially in the second half. I'll be honest about it and say that we had words at half time. I thought that we didn't approach the game properly. When you are playing non-league sides, you don't do things in the right manner and you don't take care of your passing. That's what we did in the first half. If you do that, and it doesn't matter who you are playing."
"Every now and then they are going to have the ball, the basics that we have done for as long as I have been here. My shape doesn't change in possession or out of possession. They didn't do it and took liberties. You can't do that, it doesn't matter who you play. I expect it to be done properly and in the second half we did do it properly and it was really comfortable."
"The second half was a professional performance, and that's the right way to do it. I want to score early doors in a game, and then I want to score again. There were things that we did that we are not supposed to do. I expect that out of possession, people don't have time or space in and around our box, but we have addressed that."
"I don't care who we play and I don't care when we play. I expect people want to win and want to win well all the time, because that's how you become successful. That's what we did last year. We were difficult to beat and I expect the same this year. We don't want to be a good passing team with good technical players, but a soft touch. If there is a challenge to be won, I expect everyone to win it."
"There were some strong challenges, but that's how I want it. You run the risk of injuries, but we all run the risk of injuries every day. I want that competitive edge now because we are going to need it for the whole season. It's important to win and to get into the habit of winning. I try to make sure that it is really competitive every day in training. If it is competitive then it goes over onto the game on the Saturday. It needs to be that to be successful."
